We just got back from WDW last night and my girls traded about 150 pins while we were there and had a great time. They have traded on the Disney Cruise before but not at the park and they had a lot of fun. We didn't really understand the lanyard pins and didn't realize that there was a list until we got home and wished we would have had it. It was fun because unlike the regular pins which there are thousand of styles there are a limited number of styles here. You can collect a whole group. It kept the kids busy looking for these pins rather than wanting to trade everytime they saw someone with pins.
When I was younger I collected toy tractors but as this became more popular I gave up because it was too frustrating. When I first started there weren't that many collecting and there seemed like you may be able to collect all of the tractors in a certain series but after it became more popular they were putting new ones out so fast I don't think Bill Gates would have had enough money to keep up. That is what I didn't enjoy about the pin trading because there was no end in sight, nothing to really work towards but I must admit it was fun looking for the lanyard pins and trying to complete some sets of pins.

I do have a few questions. We traded for a lot of the series two pin sets. From the link on the Disney page it appears that these sets first started in 2003. We saw pins in all of the series (1 through 16). Do all of these pins still show up as new on CM's lanyards or were the older series pins we saw ones that someone had traded back? How long do they stay active and when are new pins released? Basically I would like to know more about the lanyard sereis pins.

Thanks,

Mike

I'll try to help. Lanyard pins are only available on CM lanyards. You can't buy them, you have to trade for them.

If you want to see each lanyard set, go to pinpics.com and there is a group for each lanyard series.

No one knows how many of each were made, except maybe Disney, but they aren't telling. As for your question about older series pins showing up on lanyards, you never know. Just when us collectors think the supply is expired, some more show up. So the pins you got could have been new, or someone may have had it in their pin traders and decided to get rid of them since no one had expressed interest in it for a trade.

Lanyard series 4 was introduced at the Pin Event held 9/9-12/04. New pins are being released in this series right now. The other three series pins are complete.
