Lands End Swimsuits

I am going to Hawaii in about 10 days. I have to get a new swimsuit. I am looking at Lands End. They seem to be cut more modestly. No one wants to see any more of me than they have too. I am looking at buying the separates. They have tops with underwires and and tops without them. I have three kids so I am considering the underwire.

My questions are have you tried the swimsuit with the underwire? Am I right about the cut of the suits? Do the suits hold up well?

I do like the suits and they do hold up well but avoid the Underwire at all cost- it is the flimsiest underwire I have ever seen and it sure wasn't providing any addition support to me.
I Particularly like the swim mini- make sure you check fabric though as once I bought a "nylon" kind of skirt that was pool safe but it just felt odd.

I was going to get the swim shorts for the bottom because I wasn't sure how long the swim mini was.

So you think the shelf bra will be ok for support?

It looks like this year they actually have 2 swim mini sizes- length wise. I have the shorter one and it was fine for me(not a small girl and have had 4 children so everything hangs a bit lower )

Support wise- I try to look for the Halter style tops that I can tie so I hoist those babies up. Shelf isn't great unless you go for that faille rib material- nothing moves in that stuff.
You know that Sears carries Landsend. You can go in and at least try out the ones they have(I found it mostly to be the older styles but it at least let me know what size to get and then I just ordered it)

I have been trying on Land's end bathing suits for awhile now, trying to find just the right one.

I opted for the faille material as it is a bit thicker and just feels better. I found that the bottoms are pretty true to size and very moderately cut. Although I tried on the faille swim mini, it just didn't feel right. I opted for the #2 cut bottom. For the top, I felt more comfortable going one size up from what I usually wear. For me the shelf bra just doesn't have the support that I need/want and the soft cup bra is much more to my liking.

I did end up with one of the underwire tops....the scrunch back faille. For some reason the underwire in that particular style did not bother me as much as the underwire in some of the other styles.

I like that the Sears in my mall carries lots of the different styles. I was able to try on all different combinations and then order the colors I wanted right there. Also, if you order from the Lands End department in Sears you get free shipping to your home. That to me is a pretty good deal.

I live in the sticks so we only have Evil Wal-Mart near us. I was trying to decide between a plus size or if I should just go with a regular size. The plus size have the soft cup bra in them. I wanted a print so the faille ones aren't what I really was looking for. Maybe I should try that though because they seem to be a little more sturdy.

I like the separates from LL Bean. I go with the skirted bottom and halter tops.

If you go Faille I would suggest going up from your normal size- Another thing all the plus suits are D- cup sized.

Lands end is great with returns so don't feel bad about ordering one if you need to try for size- ( I am pretty sure they take bathing suits back but double check)

I have a lands end suit with underwire and I LOVE it. It does not hurt at all and makes the girls look very nice. I am a D cup and there is more than enough support. I would not get a shelf bra suit if it were free, because of my cup size.

I have the custom suit that you order through the catalog. I have a top and then the shorts.

Lands End takes back swimsuits, just keep the paper lining on the bottoms. The plus sizes are more generous in the breasts, so if you need that order a plus size.

Also everything at Lands End is guaranteed period. You can return it for any reason at any time. If it doesn't wear like you want or the underwire is uncomfortable, you can return. No problems.

My wife ordered two sets this year for disney

She said that they were small.. ran a size smaller then normal

Also the tops had some massive padding and she in her words "felt like she had nursing pads there".

she went to Sears to return both.

I like the separates from LL Bean. I go with the skirted bottom and halter tops.

Here's another vote for LL Bean I love their suits! They cover everything that needs covering and hold up really well. We have a lake home and I'm in my bathing suit a lot in the summer. I have some that are several years old and still look good.

I only wear LE suits. I just ordered 3 and they were shipped today. Then I can return what I don't like to Sears. I have the underwire but don't really care for it. Of course, I prefer a underwire-less bra, too. THey have a free shipping right now, I think, I will post the code if I can find it....

I order the same size I wear in shorts. I also order plus (18W) and they have a large enough soft cup bra in them (D for me). I have a slim suit and for that you might order up a size. Also have faille separates that have top and skirted bottom--LOVE that one. We go to the pool a lot in the summer so I always have 2-3 suits. If you rinse them out each time in cold water and only wash them with vinegar (even before you get into the water wash in vinegar to 'set' the color--I learned that from swim team parents) they will alst a long time. My one that I am replacing lasted for nearly 3 whole summers, so I think that's great.

I just got a Land's End suit with underwire but haven't used it yet--just tried it on for a few minutes. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it as it's a little too tight in the stomach. I might try just a tankini top with underwire and pair it with bottoms I already have.

But I've been searching high and low for a bathing suit with an underwire in my bra size. It doesn't exist, but I can manage with a DD. No amount of halter hoisting or soft cups or shelf bra is going to a darn thing in terms of supporting my chest. I need metal! The underwire seemed fine when I tried it. Actually unfortunately it was a little looser than I preferred on top and tighter than was totally comfortable on the bottom . So I might try another size or just a tankini top, but in either case I hope when wearing it for more than 3 minutes the underwire doesn't start to feel uncomfortable, because I pretty much need to wear it regardless of how it feels.
