I asked this in another thread but it got buried so here is the question.

If we use the dining plan and eat a TS at Rain Forest Cafe, will we still get credit for the monetary amount of the meal on the Landry's Club card?

I do not see it as double dipping like using the AP discount and the Landry's card. I know that is not allowed.

I wouldn't think that would be allowed because a great majority of people get the dining plan for free. And they will only give you credit for what you actually paid. I would call and ask the restaurant but I wouldn't think you would get the monetary value of what the meal would have cost had you not used the dining plan. There is no way for them to know if your dining plan was free or paid.

No, you do not. The dining plan is prepayment and you don't get anything back even if you would otherwise be entitled to a discount on the meal.

Bummer! I was hoping to acquire points for this meal.:(

I could understand not getting points if we had free dining but since we are DVC we do not get free dining.

We are still trying to decide if we are going to use the dining plan this time. We have a group of 10 - 11 family and friends coming and trying to divide up the bill for each person or family will be a pain in the butt, I think. I have looked at the DP calculator on her and the money works out about the same.

I have considered having everyone pay me up front for the possible cost of their meal and then just have one person pay for it all using AP/DVC/TIW but that is a lot of accounting work to keep track of it all. Plus TIW has a limit to how many people can use it.

It just seems like the DP will be the easiest way to handle this many people.

I don't know if they will GIVE you points on their rewards program for going there for the meal - I though you were asking if they will give you the cash amount of the discount back when you pay with the dining plan. Doesn't Landry have some kind of contact for their club? I don't know how what you paid for the dining plan might affect their decision to give bonus points. They don't distinguish between paid dining and free dining at the restaurants, because free dining is a discount offered by the resorts - not the restaurants.
