What options are available for the day that you leave the park and transfer to the ship? We have heard that there is an AK breakfast but we were not sure of any other options.

i suppose you mean a character breakfast....
there's also a character breakfast at the GF and the beach club.....probably at many of the other hotels as well (i think the contemporary also has one but i'm not sure)....
but last time we just woke up late (well...not late, but in WDW terms it was late......usually we get up at the crack of dawn to get into the parks early so we got up at a normal hour on the day of the cruise)..., had breakfast in the concierge room, and then left for the port at about 9 i think it was....maybe it was before 9....we were very excited and anxious to get to the port already...
and wow...we weren't disappointed.....when we saw that ship...
i'll never forget the moment....all four of us....even my totally jaded husband.....

What we heard about involved a character breakfast at AK, but the Disney busses pick you up at AK instead of your resort.

This is how it happend for us in 02, but someone here mentioned it may have changed...

On our cruise departure day, we were given the option to stay at the resort and have the DCL busses pick us up there or head off to AK. Upon check in at the resort, we were given a ## to call to reserve spots at Donald's Character breakfast (I can't spell the real name:D ) at AK. You had to call early, as those "reserved seats" for cruisers were limited. You do not get any discount off the price of breakfast, however. If you chose to go to AK on departure day, there is a table set up at the entrance for cruisers where you can check in your carry on for free so you don't have to worry about lockers, etc. (DCL had already gotten our luggage bright and early at the resort and loaded it on DCL busses). You are then given "priority seating" passes to one of the AK shows that allows you into the show with out any hassle or missing it. Lastly, at around 1130, you meet up at the front of the park and load on the DCL busses for your trip to port.

I hope they still do it this way! I thought it was great. When you book the land/sea package, 3 or 4 days is not enough at the parks, and this gives you that last go at AK!

so that morning of the cruise we went to Animal Kindgom until about Noon and then left for the port. It's one of the reasons we dont do Cruiseline transportation anymore with any line. It was nice because the mad rush was over and we still felt we had siginificant time to wander around, eat and just hang out with the kids. We didnt want to do the reservation jumble so it worked out nicely for us.

This year I assume we will leave the POR a little earlier than we did before (around 10) and get to the port so hubby and I can try to get massage ressies or palo or both. And because the kids are WIGGING out about going in a stretch limo :p
