Does anyone know if the Land ride is closing the end of Aug? My trip is from 8/19-8/27.

From Screamscape..........

(7/24/06) As we reported in May, the Living With The Land boat attraction will be updated to a new automated system and will no longer have narrators along with you. The original plan was to try and do this without any downtime, but it seems that was harder than expected, so the attraction will shut down for several weeks starting August 20th through September 17th. It also seems that FastPass will be removed from the attraction at this point in time as well because it wont be needed any longer. Currently I’ve been told the ride can run a maximum of 14 boats at a time, but due to staff cuts and just an overall toughness to keep staff working on the attraction, they were usually only able to run a maximum of 10-12 boats in the peak season. Once the rehab is complete, they will be able to run the ride at full capacity and there really wont be a need for FastPass any longer.

Better hit it on your first day.

The only REAL reason its busy at all is that a gazillion folks go to Soarin' and see that Livin' with the Land is RIGHT THERE without a 70 minute wait (and there's already HALF-a-gazillion folks in its queue) so they think they need to ride it... it must be FABULOUS! ;)

Back when "Food Rots" was the show next door, Livin' with the Land was a "walk-on" much of the time.

I liked the old land pavilion. Not that the new one is bad...but I liked the old one. I miss the old Land Grill and both of the versions of Food Rocks.

I like the new pavilion, but preferred the old food court!

So, there taking away the fast pass for this ride as well. Perhaps, they will use the fast pass for the new Nemo ride that is currently in the works. :confused3

This is one of my kids fav! Man we are having a time. This is the second time we have been to Disney and it is closed. I wanted to do the behind the seeds tour this time too. Oh well. I will have to tell them in the morn. They are going to wonder what is going on. First, the pool at All Star Movies and now the land! I have to break it to them easy. :rotfl:

It was reported here that is was shuttered as scheduled.

This is one of my family's fav as well. A must do every trip. It is also the second time it will be closed for us! Oh well, I wonder if you will still see the scene as you eat at Garden Grill? I hope so..

The only thing they are reportedly doing is adding a pre-recorded "guide spiel audio" to the BOATS (no more "live" CM guides) and maybe a few sensors and a different kind of load/unload section, so the boats are more fully automatic.

So I don't think you'll miss any views from the Grill.

Sorry to revive the thread, but seven dwarfs, I asked this question for you today.

The Grill lady said that it won't have any impact. :)

It was closed on Tuesday the 22nd. I didn't know it was scheduled for refurbishment, so I'm glad I did it earlier during my trip.

Does anyone know if it's still going to be closed all the way thru September 17 (not reopening until the 18th)? I get there on the 16th, and I've always loved the boat ride.
