We have booked a Disney Cruise but are arriving a few days early and spending 2 days in the parks before. On our last trip to the park I had the Photopass plus, which I know is now the Memory maker. I enjoyed the ease of using the photo pass, but we were there for a week and did a ton of character greets.
This trip I don't anticipate doing as many character greets, etc and jut concentrating on rides, but who knows ... plus we like the Magic Shots. I've never been on the cruise before, so I don't know what to expect there. Does the cruise have photo pass photographers too, and if so, can I link those to my same memory maker (do the magic bands link to the cruise too?).
If I can use the memory maker for the parks as well as the cruise, i have no hesitations buying it. but if it's only going to be good for the parks, I'm not so sure about spending $170 for 2 days of pictures.

No - DCL uses Shutters. They have packages and CDs but it is separate from Memory Maker.

Also the Magic Bands do not work on the ship. Other than the Memory Maker and Magic Bands not transferring to the ship I hope you guys have fun!

Photopass/Memory Maker in the parks is just for the parks. There are many rides that you would get the pictures from with photopass as well as the photographers around in the parks at the main entrances and strategically placed.

Magic bands are not used on the ship but they have photo packages via Shutters that you can prepurchase at a reduced rate before you cruise. Once you are on board, the packages are priced at the same rate but no discount is available.

I am a reformed photopass enthusiast as my new annual pass (gold with the couple of blackout times and the photopass option included) has the option.
I never purchased it before but now actually enjoy it. Especially those magic shots...which are so cool!

We have not purchased the cruise package though, because I bring my own camera and like to take unposed shots of the kids and hubby (secretly of course).
