My friend and I have Lamplight reservations next week. Today, a third friend decided to join us for the day (YAY! We are super excited!) What are the chances we could add on a third person there the day off? Our reservations are for 11:30 on a non brunch day, if that makes a difference. The third friend is totally fine just waiting for us and eating somewhere else, but the 2 of us don’t want to do that.

I also have an alert set for 3 on a dining site.

Right now I’m thinking if something doesn’t pop up by 24 hours before (to avoid the cancellation charge) I might have to cancel…?

WWYD?

First open the reservation information. There is a ‘modify’ tab. I have modified a reservation that way from 2 to 3 keeping the rest of the reservation the same.

Thank you so much! I was able to add our daughter to our Blue Bayou reservation (it was originally just me and my wife, but she has since expressed interest in joining us). Very helpful!

I tried that, but it says there isn’t availability for 3 every hour during that day. I guess I’ll keep trying that too.

I’ve only modified once myself for Goofy’s Kitchen. I’m thinking maybe the modification for Lamplight Lounge is more difficult being that they do have some specific two party table and chair setups inside. Maybe doing a morning walk up, they can adjust it for you. Hope your plans work out.

That definitely makes sense. I think I have an unrealistic view because the only time I’ve eaten there was last June, and there were extra chairs everywhere all around us, but I’m sure that was because of Covid distancing at the time.

At WDW I called the phone number requesting an additional spot and they told me to just show up with my extra person and the restaurant would accomodate me. I don't know if that had to do with the number in my party, being at WDW, or what, but I would try calling and see what they say.

Have you tried looking for 4? I know sometimes the system at WDW doesn't like odd-numbered parties, and as long as someone shows up you're not charged for a no-show fee.

I was going to say at WDW they sometimes have the add an extra person, but it's definitely easier going from an odd number up to an even number - 3 would be seated at a 4-top, for example - than an even number up to an odd - 2 would almost certainly be assigned at a 2-top, and 3 would mean bumping to a 4-top.

I did try 4, and that didn't work either. I'm going to assume it's because, like a PP said, there are 2 person seating options at LL.

When you check in on the app, you can add one more person.

Have you (or anyone else) done this at LL before? I'm nervous to leave it to chance like that because if it doesn't work, we either ditch my friend or I'm out $20 for the cancellation.

I should try calling. I'm glad to hear it's worked before!

Modifying in the app doesn't often work. But LL is pretty lenient; they will take walk-ups, after all. If you show up with one more person it's likely they can accommodate you, because often they're seating parties of 2 at a table sized for 4, anyway. I mean, I wouldn't guarantee it, but it's pretty darn likely and I wouldn't worry about it.

Thank you; this does make me feel better.

The friend I'm going with said, "If it doesn't work, we can just order some donuts and then leave," so we're just going to keep the reservation and hope for the best! And no matter what, at least we'll get some of those amazing donuts...

Yes. We've did it in January. Its also worked at Oga's and Blue Bayou

Um…hate to break it to you, but if you are looking to get the regular donuts with the chocolate and other dipping sauces, you are in for disappointment as I was disappointed today. If you are wanting oolong donuts, then you are in luck. I was not wanting oolong donuts. The menu does not indicate they are oolong donuts nor did the server say a thing when I ordered donuts. I knew they had oolong donuts as a lunar new year offering but since the online menu no longer listed them, the printed menu they gave us at our table was the standard menu with no additional notation, and again our server said nothing, we did not know the restaurant had apparently decided to keep serving them until at least food and wine next month due to what I suspect after conversation with the waiter is a desire to use up a surplus of ingredients.

Well, that's not great news! Thank you for telling me; we'll be sure to avoid that. What a bummer - there were some Lunar New Year items I would have loved to try and of course those are all gone, but oolong donuts wouldn't be something I'd include in that group.

I had a similar experience during the holiday season. I ordered donuts from the regular menu but they served me the peppermint/ holiday flavored ones. It was good, but it wasn't what I initially wanted. It might be a thing they do for seasonal donuts?

My understanding is that they make only one recipe of donuts at any given time. For the holidays it was the ones you described. For lunar new year, it was oolong donuts for $10. I was there a week after lunar new year though and the rest of the lunar new year foods were no longer being served. The online menu listing had changed back to the way it was before lunar new year showing only donuts $9 as did the printed menu they handed me at the table. At no time, even when I ordered "the donuts" did the the waiter make any mention that oolong donuts were still being served. I had no reason to assume the regular donuts were not back since the special event period was over and there was no provided communication written or verbal, in person or online, to indicate otherwise. That was my real issue with the situation. If I had known they were still serving only oolong donuts, I simply would not have ordered any donuts since that taste didn't appeal to me. Now I know always to ask because apparently items can be held over from special events and no communication will be provided.
