Lamp posts in the new castle hub areas

Am I the only one that feels like they went way overboard with WAY TOO MANY lamp posts in the new areas of the castle hub? OMG!! I was sitting back by Casey's and all I could see were LAMP POSTS..... everywhere! they block so much of the castle and depending where you stand for Wishes... yikes!

That has been one of the main points of discussion regarding the views of Celebrate the Magic and Wishes in the new hub.

I have. I agree it makes for a lesser view than before the Hub refurb, depending on where you end up standing.

I haven't seen Wishes since before the new fp viewing areas have been opened so I can't give an opinion on it, but while I realize they might interfere with the pre show, aren't the fireworks in the sky? Not sure how the lamp posts can block that view.

I noticed them, more during the castle preshow, with the projections.

PS I LOVED the FP+ for Wishes. I mean really loved having some space around me. DS is in a wheelchair, and it was so nice not to be trampled.

I'm going to have to find a way to more easily include "Celebrate the Magic" as part of the whole "where should we stand to see Wishes and the parade?" discussions.

To me, CtM is a better (certainly more cutting-edge, unique and lively) show than MSEP, and it is virtually a "pre-show" for the fireworks.
And, yet, it is nearly always left out of the discussion of MK's evening spectaculars.

As more and more guests gradually DO become aware of the "Triple Whammy" (instead of just the two of the past)
it will likely make finding a good viewing spot in the hub much more difficult than in the past.

It's the "3-show" deal that very likely tipped the scale for the urgent need for the rebuild of the hub.

Indeed the new lamp posts have made watching Wishes slightly more tricky, especially with the ongoing construction and covering up of the Walt and Mickey statue, which limits viewing even more. If you can get a FP for Wishes (I prefer West side), you can get a great, unobstructed central view, but it just depends on whether a guest has beaten you to it or not.


On a side note, does anyone know, or has it been mentioned on here, about the turret shaped scrims on either side of the castle? They too, have created obstructions to the side of the castle.

Those are going to be the new sound/light "control booths"-at least they are going to be themed much better than the old ones!

We saw Wishes from the back of the east fp viewing area last month and didn't have too much trouble avoiding the lanterns. We only had one lantern which blocked the lower left corner of the castle during CtM. The show has so much going on that having just a small piece of it blocked and 95% of it visible was fine with us. The fireworks were not obscured and we saw Tinkle Bell overhead just fine. It thought it was much better than standing in a crowd.

I eagerly await your thoughts on where is the best spot for the triple whammy, based on the changes. We are debating doing a day of just parade, show FPs.

They have started to make everyone within the FP+ area stand up for the show, does that mean they intend to cram more people into the area? and... a CM told me that they start letting people with FP+ into the area at 8pm with Wishes scheduled at 10p, so to get the better (no lampposts, etc) view you would have to arrive at 8p. But what kind of view do you have of the parade then? Doesn't the parade have it's own FP+? And isn't that right up in front of the castle (which really is not a good view of Wishes) And once inside the fence, can you walk out and back in? (use of restrooms or get snacks)

1. That's not proven to be true every night.
2. Nobody knows what they will be doing in the future.
3. Two hours before the fireworks seems to be the consistent opening time.

5. It's safe to say that you will not have a good view of the parade from anywhere inside
either Wishes FP+ viewing area.

7. No. It's not been there for months. It is now at Town Square (surrounding the flagpole.)

9. On some nights, there won't be anyplace in the Hub along the curb 90 minutes before Wishes.
10. You keep saying "fence." There is no fence used for the parade FP+ area.
It is a rope, and they remove it. Sometimes even before the parade is over. Sometimes just before the parade gets to the viewing area. (Yes, they do keep an eye on the area to keep other guests out.)
11. That's certainly one aspect, but it is not the primary aspect, as so relatively few guests
get the FP+.

We viewed it from the East side a few nights ago - we watches MSPE from the fire station and followed it up main street to the FP viewing area - so yes we did arrive fairly late - but isn't that the point - to a very full area. We did manage to get right up near the front but I have to say I had a huge lamp post blocking a large part of my view for both. The whole time I kept thinking about how many posts I seen saying how can they block your view of the fireworks in the sky...... but they do.... really they do. And I agree -there are so many everywhere! I guess I got unlucky standing right behind one but it would seem since they just built it someone would have thought about this??

Except 7 and 8... and 8 really was a question that wasn't answered. Can you leave the area?
and by fence.... I mean "railing" around the Wishes FP+, not parade. And I did not specify the curb around the "hub" as these would not be good seats for Wishes. I was referring to along Main St which has the better view of Wishes...... IMHO.
I totally get this is all new and a lot is not finished. I was just "thinking out loud". But thanks for the reply.
