I had a rant a month ago that our painter left the sliding glass door wide open during a rain storm and our PERGO floor buckled as a result. I went to Lowes and they told me to wait to a month to see if it would lay back down...........it didn't :guilty:

Now what? 7 pieces need to be replaced, it came from owners in the past and we don't even know if they manufacture that color anymore. Has anyone had this happen before?

call the painter back,, file a complaint and make him pay a professional to come fix the pergo. i would not reccommend this being a homeowner repair.

We spent big bucks having laminate put down. Well, DH didn't realize that when he reconnected the line for the automatic ice maker, he caused a slow leak. A sizeable section of the floor buckled before it was discovered and I was just heartsick over it.

It took a lot longer than one month for it to dry out, but it did. (I hate to say it, but you're looking at 3 - 6 months.)

Be patient. Hopefully it will restore itself to it's previous appearance.

Thank you SO much for posting this! We were seriously thinking about going ahead and getting it replaced next month. We would have possibly thrown away our money for nothing. Thanks to you we'll wait this one out for a few more months and hope for the best. :goodvibes

Did you inform the painter about this - in writing?

While other posters have mentioned that it might take several months for this to correct, I would go back to "what responsibility is the painter" taking for their mistake ofleaving the door open?

The painter and I had it out when this occured. I made a big mistake in hiring him and he dissappeared after I confronted him, he didn't even finish the job to this day I have still not been able to contact him(not answering his phone, email, pager, etc). There isn't enough value in that floor to seek out a small claim. I'd waste more time and energy seeking him out than its worth, but boy do I wish I'd been smarter and paid more for a better job from someone who wouldn't ruin my floors
