Lame question about rental car counter hours

I have next to no experience with renting cars so bear with me...

Im looking into renting a car because flights for my dates are INSANE flying out of MCO on a saturday (nov. 6th) so it looks like SFB is our only alternative ($62 one way on Southeast cant beat it!). My quandry is, however, getting to the hotel from the airport is almost $200!! (for a towncar) Hence my quest for a rental.

Now, my lame question is:

Im my research online, Im plugging in my drop off time as 7:30am because the flight leaves at 8:45 but the database is telling me I cant do that because the counter is closed. Is there a system in place for pickup or drop off after the counter closes or are you just out of luck?

I've never flown into or out of Sanford, but I can't imagine that at least one of the car rental companies is not open at that hour. I would not want to drop off a vehicle without getting a receipt showing it was returned on time and in good condition...no telling what could happen if you were to just leave it.

It depends on the rental car company. I just called National at the Dolphin because they don't open until 9am. They told me that my rental receipt at pickup is all that I need. I can take my rental car to the valets at the Dolphin at any time and they will take care of turning in my keys.

Hertz has a drop box for putting your keys and contract in when you return the car. They mail you a receipt.
