Lakeshore Lodge size

You havent been? I swore you had and liked it.
Nope I think im going to like it based on some things it has to offer. (Or at least thats what i tell myself 🤣🤣)

But I also dont like resorts that are all spread out and the theme to me has nothing to do with Disney and I dont like the way the rooms look from the room tours ive seen 🤣🤣

That's why when people bash my home Idc because I agree 🤣🤣🤣 I only defend the use of SAP, not the horse resort 🤣🤣 We all know I bought the smallest home in Beverly Hills just to be in the school district! I do hope I never have to stay there lmaoooo.

OK im being harsh I do want to stay there but not yet lollll

Honestly same. My largest contract is at SSR because I got it for a steal at the time, but never have stayed there and not sure I care if I ever do. 🙃 Butttt I still love my contract itself because it has given me so many great stays at other resorts!

I completely feel this! It's my largest too! And the best deal i was able to get!

I love it more than any of my other ones because it has a whopping 250 points that I wouldnt be able to get otherwise and low maintenance fees that were using to go to Aulani next year and a second wdw trip!

It's the last contract I would want to offload tbh, crazy how that works! How long have you had yours without managing to stay there? I kind of am giving myself this challenge of how long I can go without having to stay there 🤣🤣

I really didn't think WDW had enough demand left to fill another 900 deluxe rooms, considering how they frequently have to offer discounts to fill the rooms they have now. It will be interesting to see how many rooms in this resort are DVC and how quickly the points sell.

I’ve had my SSR for roughly a year. I travel to Disney 3 times per year so I’ve made it 3 trips so far! I’ve booked BLT, CCV, BRV and Poly so far with it.
Am I the only one that used my PVB and VGF points at SSR the last few years??? :)

Actually, we now try to stay at the Cabins as much as we can. It's hard to snag one at 7 months though...

BRV has a lot of availability ive noticed so im excited to use it for that as well, same with Poly if I like it, I definitely want to try out the longhouses

What made you want to stay there?
We actually really love SSR for a few reasons. First, it is like a completely different resort since the renovations a few years ago. Second, since we always drive to WDW, it is so much more convenient to be able to essentially drive right up to your building to unload. Third, we love the pools and the proximity to Disney Springs, especially Gideon's! Finally, the point charts are way nicer than some of our other locations.

Quick note: It does help to learn to use the park bus system as an internal bus loop - makes things MUCH easier...

I have been wanting to go to gideons for years and we just never get around to it! I think because we go there to eat at a restaurant and then we're full. I really want to explore DS more. I've also wanted to go to their Cirque show for a while. How are the views of DS from congress park? I've been doing my research and that sounds like it could be great! I also feel like the tree houses could be a thing if they did something cool out there. Lazy river anyone?? I wish haha

SSR frequently has last minute availability for one thing. It has a lot of other advantages too - you can park right in front of your villa, it's away from the hustle and bustle of the parks, close to Disney Springs, nice points chart, nice villas, etc.
Im Def going to give it a chance! I am going with an open mind, my critical post was mostly for comical purposes 🤣

It does seem like there isn't a huge demand for another resort. I wonder if it's going to be more of a conference and events type of place. That said, I personally am excited for it. I don't need any more points so I can't help them with that, but I would definitely visit for a day or stay there.

I think it was @AstroBlasters who predicts that it will be sold as a package deal with the cabins before Lakeshore officially goes on sale. I absolutely can see that happening in order to get the cabins selling faster.

I know previously they said Reflections was going to be a mix of DVC and hotel, but I think at this point its going to be completely DVC.

What's the last build they did that was not fully DVC? Was it AOA?

They do it for two reasons, capex return is much faster selling points and you are guaranteed either high occupancy or at the very least dues being paid to cover the cost of running it, never have to worry about it sitting at say 50% occupancy because of an event like 9/11 that severely hampers travel but doesn't effect the parks like covid did.

Following some other sites where people seem to have the details, or at least some access to info, chatter is 557 hotel rooms and 399 DVC units (308 not locked off, 399 locked off), which frankly makes a lot of sense to me. (I am not sure if the count of the waterfront A-frames is in that DVC number or should be added, FWIW)

So at directionally 956 rooms, that’s smaller than AKL, YC/BC (if we want to treat that as one resort), SSR, Poly, CR, and GF, which are all 1,000+, and bigger than BWI, OKW, WL, and Riv. (I’m using hotel-side acronyms here but include Villa counts for resorts where applicable)

So in the context of other WDW resort properties it’s large, but not all that disproportionally large. If you want to hypothetically say that FW cabin guests will have access to LL amenities, that would serve a total room count that’s in the same YC/BC ballpark.

IMO just because Disney hasn’t built new deluxe hotel (non-DVC) inventory since 2001 (caveat with Grand Destino, which while deluxe quality, was more of a convention add than a true deluxe hotel addition add) to me doesn’t mean there’s a lack of demand for MK-area hotel options, especially something at that non-monorail resort price point. Disney’s hotel-side competitive landscape has changed a lot in 25 years, there are numerous newer/nice accommodations around. As a hotel-side minority here on this forum, it’s long overdue, in my humble opinion. An MK-area new and shiny hotel that’ll likely be priced lower than the monorail resorts but a little higher than WL could be hugely popular.

And of course down the road the easy button DVC conversion lever will always be there for the mouse.

My two cents. :-)

I guess we may be in the minority but we didn’t enjoy our Stay at SSR. I mean I would def take it for last minute trips, with no hesitation. But I know a lot of people actively look to stay there. IMO the proximity to DS is overrated as the property is so big it could easily be over a mile walk depending on the location of your room. For a Deluxe resort the bus transportation is not ideal with multiple stops due to its size. Also the lack of theming was disappointing when compared to places like CCV or POLY.

I agree SSR may not be everyone's cup of tea, but then again, neither is CCV or Poly everyone's cup of tea either. Heck, I own 190 points at Poly and have spent a grand total of 2 nights there since 2019...

One thing you mention is the walk to DS. It's imperative to learn how the bus system works. We always just hop on whatever bus is coming (doesn't matter the park) and take it to the Congress Park stop. From there it's a short walk to DS. Also, if you are going to the main area, you can do the same thing with the buses, just get off at the Springs.

I will also clarify with the fact that SSR (and OKW and perhaps Kidani) are much easier if you drive to WDW and have your own car.

I own SSR, and I've stayed there. But it's my least favorite resort at WDW. It reminds me of condos. And yes, like others, I bought it when SSR points were really, really cheap. Low dues, too.
