I'm looking for a hotel close to Disney Downtown for 5 nights from December 5th.

I'm interested in the Comfort Inn LBV from what I've seen on their website, and can book a room for $50 a night exc tax. HAs anyone stayed there ? Is it OK ?

I'd also be interested in info anyone has on other hotels in that area that I could get for about the same price perhaps. This is a last minute trip and we have to keep to a budget.

Thanks.

there is a long list - this is a popular area for hotels

Kissimmee close to WDW would also work for you (this area is about 5 minutes from AK).

find a hotel you like then ask where it is before you rent it.

the Comfort Inn was that a comfort inn - nothing special - of course I am talking about 1987 - so long, long time ago.

In the same vicinity of the Comfort Inn is the Radisson Palm Parkway. You can check the Radisson website for some special rates. Rooms are spacious, clean, and large, and the service is excellent. They have room service, restaurant, bar, and outdoor pool.

FWIW, I had an impromptu trip 2 years ago and booked a $35/night room at Comfort Inn LBV. The room they assigned me was as close to I-4 as you could get, and the maid was still changing the sheets when I checked in! I left and went down the street to the Radisson.

HTH!

We have stayed at the Comfort Inn LBV twice. We are also staying there this weekend. Our last trip was last month and we didn't have any problems. We have always enjoyed this hotel because it has a 24-hour security guard at the gate, plus the suites have refrigerators, microwaves, etc. Previously, we paid twice as much for hotels that were not as nice.

We have never stayed on the I-4 side, but I have read that it is very noisy. I don't know if we've just been lucky in getting the other side of the hotel, or perhaps it's because we always request a smoke-free room.

The rooms we've had have always been clean. The staff were nice and we felt very secure with the guard posted. It's very close to Disney and all of the other attractions. For the price, it really is a good value.

We stayed at the Grosvenor last year. It was right across from the shopping area at downtown disney. You could actually walk there. The prices were real affordable ($70 range).

Hope that helps!

Is this the Comfort Inn that has a complimentary breakfast?

They have a free Continental breakfast. You can upgrade to the breakfast bar for $3.95. We didn't eat the breakfast, so I'm not sure which items are free.

We are back from our long weekend and everything at the hotel was great. We were actually on the I-4 side! We could hear traffic hum, but it didn't bother us. It actually helped us to sleep better, so I guess it's one of those things that depends on the individual(s).

Hi mediabear!

Did you use the shuttles?

No, we drove our car. I did see a lot of people waiting to board the shuttles. Maybe someone else here can help you out.

Well, I decided in the end to try the Priceline.com thing, and try to get a discounted 3* hotel in the LBV area.

I was a bit nervous about it since you can't pick a specific hotel, but since we only needed a place for 5 nights rather than the full 14, I decided it was worth the risk of not getting a hotel we would normally choose, especially since there seem to be some big discounts available.

After consulting Biddingfortravel.com, a forum site designed to help people wanting to bid on Priceline, I supplied information they need regarding preferred location, dates, maximum bid you wish to place and type of hotel (* rating). I was hoping to get one of 3 hotels; the Sheraton Safari, Best Western Resort LBV or the Grosvenor Resort. The moderators on the forum advised me to start bidding at $32 - this bid was rejected. I upped the bid to $34, then $36, and finally to $39.

Luckily, at this price I had my bid accepted for the Best Western Resort LBV, well pleased to get one of our 3 preferences. Even better, the lowest price I was able to get on the hotel's own website was $99 !! We save $60 per night !! Amazing !!

I'm now looking at trying to get our Miami hotel and car hire thru Priceline too.

I'd recommend anyone who is flexible on their hotel choice to give Priceline a try. If you do want to check it out, go to Biddingfortravel.com for loads of useful advice and bidding assistance. It's well worth a few hours research !!

Hi BeeJayJay from fellow Brit.

Stayed at Comfort LBV with Virgin this very time last year.

Plusses were security and location (very close to Downtown Disney area with Crossroads close by too). Room had microwave and fridge with no fees.

Minusses (is there such a word?) were property a bit aged, average cleanliness (although rooms very "serviced" daily) and many better hotels in vicinity.

If you are on budget, this is good, but we saw (and are trying) Fairfield Inn at Little Lake Bryan next time as looks more modern. That's just the other side of the I-4 exit at LBV, nearer Premium Outlets.

Hope that gives you something to go on?
