Laid-back Disney Week - Solo, Live-ish

I had a fantastic evening at Hollywood Studios. Work was work, but at least I was done on time and tapped into DHS by 5:30. Hit up Star Tours - fun as always. Then Muppets - the Haunted Mansion pre-show was adorable.

Then lucked into a table at Brown Derby Lounge. Had a pomegranate martini and fabulous scallop and pork belly appetizer.

Then popped over to the Tune in Lounge. This is my favorite place to sit at the bar and have dinner. Sadly bar dining isn’t back yet, but walk up bar service is - had a great pink drink - my signature cocktail.

Then over to Backlot Express for a Wookie Cookie. Fabulous and ginormous. Could be split between 2-3 people.

Wandered around soaking in the atmosphere. It cooled off a lot today and it was a perfect night to wander around the park checking out all the details of Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land. Jumped on Toy Story Midway Mania and got another mediocre score. And then checked in for my park close reservation at Oga’s Cantina. As a Star Wars nerd who likes to drink this place is my jam.

I did a Rodian Ration - a jello-shot-esque dessert type thing. It was boozy and both sweet and tart with the bobas giving an interesting texture. I wasn’t a huge fan of the freeze dried raspberries on top, but loved everything else about that.315ADBD5-9D86-41AC-9E6E-B78A3483B82E.jpeg

Then I had a Jedi mind trick - my favorite of the drinks I’ve tried here.

Oga’s was great again tonight - the bartenders were fabulous and in character. I wandered slowly out of the park. This is exactly how I love to do the parks. Relaxed. Some good food, some good drinks, and a couple rides/shows. And just soaking up the atmosphere.

Yesterday was a non-park day for me. Worked and then went to the pool for a bit then joined friends for dinner and trivia at Celebration Town Tavern. We came in last for trivia but had a ball. I had a Caesar salad, scallop scampi (huge portion of pasta), and a couple glasses of wine. Great meal. I think I’m going to end up getting a place down here and snowbirding once I retire.

Weather looked terrible and I was going to skip parks today, but by 6 it had cleared up so I’m back in EPCOT for another dinner around the world.

Got into EPCOT around 6:30PM. Happened to notice on one of the time boards that the Remy queue was somehow still open. I joined at 6:41 and got Boarding Group 160. Was estimated to get called at 9:20, but ended up called at 8:36. Score!

Checked Space 220 line. There was NO queue, but CMs were pretty firm that it was still be a 1.5 hour wait because they had just sat a large group in bar/lounge. I find that hard to believe, but I didn’t want to wait to find out. Next trip, maybe.

Stopped in to the EPCOT experience thing which was moderately interesting. Started dinner around the World Showcase with Buffalo Brussels Sprouts and Cider. Brussels were decent but drowned in Buffalo sauce.

Headed the opposite way around the World Showcase starting with Mexico. Like I did the other night I just sort of wandered around. Poking into corners and browsing stores. And stopping for a sip/bite when the mood hit me. Got a Pinot Grigio in Italy.

Over to Japan for a teriyaki chicken bun and a vodka, yuzu, lemon drink. The drink was a tad sweet for my palate - the bun was excellent.

Backtracked to Germany where I grabbed a Cherry Hefeweizen and found a bench to watch Harmonious.

Made it all the way over to Canada where I got the Cheddar Bacon Soup with Pretzel Bread. Nom nom.

Just then my Remy BG was called. Jumped in line for that and it took about 35 minutes. After getting off I had just enough time to grab a Grand Mariner slushy and find a spot for HarmonioUS.

Pretty amazing night. Meandered out of the park while keeping one eye on spaceship earth. I love the new lights (even though my pic is terrible).

Tomorrow’s Plans: MK for a bit - mostly to buy my niece mouse ears and see some of the shows. Progressive dinner at Hilton/Waldorf Bonnet Springs.
