So far there are mainly 3 possiblitys to what will be in the disneyland and disneyworld lagoon which are.
Atlantis alien encounter - probly no becuse what about walt disneyworld but sounds really cool
Atlantis the moive ride - maybe.............i hurd the moive didnt do all that well and no one liked it so i hope not.
2000 leagues under the sea - The clone from DisneySea! that would be very very very cool and sounds like it could happen!

please post any and all info you have on the future of the lagoons!:bounce:

All I know about the lagoons is that about this time last year I heard John Hench (VP of Imagineering) talk & one of the things he said was that he wanted to see something go into the lagoon at Disneyland, but he wouldn't say if they were working on anything or not.

I think this should be a priority for both WDW and Disneyland. The area that the former 20k attraction takes up is a HUGE amount of land. If you remember the old 20k was much more than just the lagoon. It also went through a rather large show building. It would be nice to see another 10-15 minute long E-Ticket that the entire family can enjoy together (ala Haunted Mansion, Pirates, etc) go in that location.

I dont think it should matter that Atlantis was not a HUGE box office success. They should still think about using that concept for the new attraction. How many people have actually seen Song of the South? Look how popular Splash Mountain is.

if you took out the water at the WDW 20K lagoon, the entire walkway - from Dumbo and Scuttle's Landing all the way over to the Tea Cups - would collapse into the Costuming department below the Magic Kingdom. The water is basically providing the pressure to hold up the sides of the fiberglass "lagoon", much like an above-ground pool. The "Magic Kingdom" is actually the second story; down below, on the first floor, are the Utilidors - the tunnels used by Cast Members to get from one end of the park to another. The lagoon sits right over the Costuming area, and it has/had been leaking for several years due to the heavy sub vehicles driving over the concrete beams (much like the Monorails do). If the water was removed from the lagoon, it would just fall into the ground, taking that walkway with it. There are no current plans for any attraction to go into that area.

Is this a new problem? They have, in the past, removed the water several times for renovation and nothing collapsed.

If it is indeed a new problem, I'm sure there is a resolution. It might be an expensive one, but I'm sure there is one.

if you leave a swimming pool empty for any length of time the walls will cave in the structure is designed to hold water in not keep the weight of a few hundred tons out ??

I doubt that Disneyland and WDW will have similar attraction placed in these spots. the Lagoon at Disneyland is significantly smaller. In fact, it doesn't seem empty the way WDW's does.
