Ladies - what shoes with dresses?

Question for the ladies.... primarily... I mean - anyone who wears a dress can answer.

When trying to look a little cutesy in the parks and/or when going to dinner in a (casual) dress, what shoes do you wear? I'm typically a high heels with dress kind of gal but can't see pulling that off even for short(?) walks from the car to dinner at Disney.

Typically I'd go with platform dressy sandals of some sort but we're going in November, so I think I might need a little more toe coverage in case it's chilly.

Just curious what you all do in the fall when tips get cold at night for dinner. Other than sneakers.

Thanks!

Since I need a supportive shoe (if not, my ankles will definitely swell) and cannot wear sandals at the parks, I wear Keds or my Rocket Dogs with my dresses and skirts, but you said no sneakers. What about ballet flats? I wear those at home with my dresses all the time. I did also wear them traveling through Belgium and The Netherlands, where I didn't do as much walking as WDW, and I was healthier back then, with no ankle swelling issues.

I've attended a few Dapper Days at Disneyland, and have found that Danskos look cute and work well for a day/night at the parks. I also had relatively good luck with Crocs flats. A friend also recommends fitflops as her go-to park shoe, but I haven't tried those yet.

I wear Bernie Mevs. They are the absolute best shoes I have ever found for walking in the parks, and they come in a bunch of different styles.

I wear Keds or Toms.

Or more accurately, the knock-offs I can buy at Target  I put 99% of my weight on my heels, so I bought gel inserts to wear in the shoes if I'm planning on wearing them for longer periods

in all likelihood, you will be able to wear sandals in November. Sometimes it gets chilly, but there will not be snow. If you are just talking about dinner, than you should be fine. For the parks? You will just have to reconcile style with comfort. I often see folks in mary-jane type casual shoes with skirts and dresses. Look at Merrill, Keens, clarks, Teva, etc. You should be able to find something that works. I wear golf skirts and tennis shoes, for whatever reason I feel that doesn't look odd, it is tougher with dresses, but there are for sure options that you could make work.

Thanks for everyone's input!

For the parks, I got some Skechers Go Walks - 2 pair that I'll rotate. I plan to change and dress a little nicer for dinners each night so really just looking for ideas that are comfortable but a little nicer looking.

Thanks again!

I wear Birkenstock Gizeh sandals a lot! They come in tons of finishes like patent and metallic and can be dressed up or down. I must warn you though, if you've never owned a pair of Birks before, you MUST break them in before you go! They are stiff at first but definitely soften up and shape to your foot, and they have fantastic support which I need due to breaking both feet several times. I wore them in the parks all 8 days this summer with no issues at all!

I've gotten some really comfortable sandals from Lands' End (we go in the summer). I like to wear casual dresses when we go out to eat, and the sandal to me seems a bit nicer than the tennis shoe.

Hmmmm I like my birkenstock sandals or Teva mush flip flops for casual wear with a skirt (all the time) I also got a pair of Jambu mary jane style comfort shoes for cooler weather wear, since I don't like a sneaker look with my skirts and I always wear skirts.... for colder weather I wear leggings under a skirt (SO comfortable) I rarely wear sneakers..... excpet on local walks around my neighborhood

I'd wear the same shoes that I'd wear with shorts or trousers to the parks. My feet need the support under those conditions, and nobody's looking that for down anyway. They certainly won't show in pictures.

I wear Havaianas with the strap that goes around the back of your ankle. I like it because they're waterproof (in case of afternoon storms) and they have some cushion. It doesn't necessarily feel like it would but after wearing another pair of flat sandals, I noticed a big difference at the end of the day. And I do 14 hour park days!

As others have mentioned, you should be fine with open toed shoes in November!

I also bring a golf ball with me to massage my feet at the end of the day back in the hotel room :-)

My cole haan flats if what I would wear with a dress. They have some pretty comfy sandals too.

I wear orthaheel or fitflop dressier sandals if it's warm enough, if it's chilly I wear ballet flats (you can find flats that are a little dressier with some sparkle on them) and that usually looks cute with dresses and skirts. Mostly though I don't wear skirts or dresses to the parks as I don't like how they look with clunky shoes like sneakers, walking sandals, etc. If I'm going somewhere fancy for dinner I usually don't plan other things in the parks for that evening so I can dress how I want for dinner and not have to worry about what clothing or shoes I wear.

If I'm just in the park for a short bit, like for a special dinner or something, I'll wear ballet flats. Especially if we're planning to get some pretty photos. If we're actually doing rides and walking around the park - I tend to wear Skechers GoWalk shoes in a grey or black. They're a pretty good compromise of comfort without looking as bulky and athletic as sneakers.

Great choice! These would have been my recommendation! One definite pro is if they get wet, they dry out VERY fast. One con, in my experience, is that they can get hot - air doesn't easily circulate. But, all in all, I think my favorite park shoes so far!
