HELLO Ladies:  would you all POST your favorite all time workout sneaker. I am looking for a new pair of sneakers to wear for my work outs.

There are just so many out there from New Balance to Nike to Reebok etc!

If there is a sneaker that you absolutely love would you mind sharing the make and model and any coordinating number...i.e. "New Balance 755"!!! And would you please state whether there was a lot of "break in" time with the sneaker...i.e. "blisters"!!!

My main workout is walking. I walk 4 miles + daily. I sometimes bump it up to jogging as well. And of course, strength training (I don't do enough of that but..)!

I am actually recouping from some minor foot ailments :sad2: so I will be off the walking track for another week hence this is the time to look for sneakers!

TIA! :dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay: :dance3: :yay:

Try Ryka. They have many different styles and I actually have three different ones in my closet. The shoes is designed for a woman's foot (by women too I believe). They provide great support to the arches andn the rest of the foot.

You can google them to find a location near you.

I absolutely LOVE my New Balance 700's!! I think I have tried all of the major brands -Nike, Reebok, Adidas - and these shoes are the most comfortable I have ever worn. Most of my exercise is walking, and my feet always feel great even when I have walked for a while.

I have heard that the number on New Balance shoes indicates the level of cushioning (the higher the number, the more cushioning).

Hope that helps!

This is the problem with asking questions like this on a discussion board. I HATE Ryka's. They make my heals hurt and are really, really uncomfortable. I personally like Asics.

What I would do is find a GOOD running shoe store, not like Foot Locker but an actual Running Shoe store where they specialize in running shoes. Take in your old shoes, they will look at them, see your gait pattern, see if you have any pronation/supination problems and make recommendations that way. They will ask about your training routine, etc. That is the best way to find a good pair of shoes. A good resource to find a reputable store would be to call a college/high school cross country coach in your area and ask where they suggest you look for good shoes.

I second this advice. I just love ASICS. I found a great shoe store that is run by a local Tri-Athlete group. They were so knowlegable and were able to help me find a shoe for MY feet. Interestingly enough, they put me in a shoe that is a 1/2 size larger than I had been getting. I have also had some recent foot problems from my running and these shoes have been a godsend.

Avoid the Foot Lockers type stores where you probably just have some high school kid trying to sell shoes.

I've got Asics as well (GEL 1110), and they're great for my overpronation. I also got them from a specialist running shop (so I'd third that advice!).

I wear new balance to walking shoes for work. I have too many styles to remember the number of my shoes.

Actually wore a hole in my new balances that I had go by shoes the next day. Lucky I had my birkstock sandels in the car. :lmao:

Love Aisics also. No foot, back, shin or other kind of pain!

For me, nothing beats Asics' running shoes for my type of foot, my mileage and type of surface on which I run.

I have narrow feet, severely overpronate and have Achilles tendonitis in both heels. My Asics are the only shoes that allow to run relatively pain-free anymore (have tried NB, Saucony, Nike and Brooks). They're unbelievably cushioned and stable, and I can't remember any real break-in time--they were comfortable from day 1. I have the Gel-Kayanos now, but there are many different styles available.

For step-aerobics, kickboxing and weight-training I wear New Balances, although they don't fit me in the heels as well as I'd like. The narrow-sized NB's are too narrow, and the normal-width are a just little too wide--it's just my foot, I guess. But I'll never buy a brand of running shoe other than Asics. :thumbsup2
