Ladies please tell me about your "morning sickness"

Alrighty then. No babies for me. I hate hate hate nausea! Nature is really quite cruel and tricky. It's so much fun to MAKE the baby, but then carrying it and giving birth to it sounds like total torture!

To be fair it's not always torture. I had no nausea with my first two, in fact other than being tired (really, really, crazy tired) for the first few months, I could have forgotten I was pregnant the rest of the time. I climbed and hiked all over Yosemite when I was 7 months! It was fun being pregnant with those two!
Not the case this time....so far...
Labor doesn't have to be torture either if you aren't opposed to an epidural. I hear they are very helpful, and I'm hoping this time I get to find out for myself.
After two babies with no pain meds. I'm ready to be that smiling lady playing Uno with my husband!

Thanks everyone. I am having a particularly bad 24 hours. I was sick last night around 8 and then again in the middle of the night and again this morning. So not fun. At least my DH witnessed me being sick so maybe now he'll be more understanding.

To top it off I had to go have a glucose intolerance test this morning too. I was so afraid the sweat drink was going to make me sick again, but fortunately I kept it down.

My heart totally goes out to those of you who had hyperemisis. I cannot even imagine how horrible that must be. I think I have lost some weight (maybe 5-10 pounds) but nothing like some of you have experienced.

This is definitely going to be my last pregnancy as I was already planning on having my tubes tied when I deliver this baby and I am so grateful I don't have to go through this again. I don't know how Michelle Duggar has had 19 pregnancies. That is so hard to imagine considering how hard it can be.

You may never have any nausea at all. I only had very minor, occasional nausea when I was pregnant with my DS. I actually loved me pregnancy with him. I was so happy all the time and I felt great. I loved the whole experience. Obviously this time is different, but the end result will still definitely be worth it. :goodvibes

I had terrible morning sickness both times. it started the day I found out with DS, and a few days after with DD. If I wanted more kids I would not need a test, just wait for the vomiting to start lol. I was given phenagrin(sp) the first time it did not work so I got zofran. The second time they knew just to give me zofran. I went to the hospital to get fluids both times from being dehydrated. If you are still feeling really sick you need to call your dr. before you get dehydrated. I know how you feel and hope you feel better soon. My friends cousin did not beleive in medicine for morining sickness, so she suffered, My friend and i told her to get a new dr. BTW my lasted until about 20-25 weeks, but medication helped a lot.

Thanks for the reassurance. I do hope I'm ready to have kids at some point, but man does it seem scary. It kind of helped to see an adorable little girl at the doctor's office this morning. MAN, was she cute!
(Before anyone bothers to say it, I have no crazy ideas that it's all about the cuteness or cuddliness. If I thought that, I'd have one already. :) )

Sorry you're feeling so cruddy. How old is Gabe? (Who I assume, by your screen name, is your son.) Sorry if you mentioned his age already.

Don't you just love it when you confide your morning sickness to friends and family and, at least most of them, tell you about how they never suffered one minute of nausea and they wear that like some badge of honor? I mean I don't think anyone should hide that they weren't sick as a dog; however, some people act like they are superior. Just doesn't help...so it's great to find all the women that suffered!

That's no joke! My mom is like that... "Oh I wasn't sick at all with you, not one bit!" like she's gonna win a medal, and then goes on to remind me how sick I was with DD. Um, hello, I was THERE!!

It does feel good to find other sufferers. :hippie:

Thanks for asking about Gabe. He is truly the love of my life (he and his daddy) - I love being a mommy so much - it is worth all everything you go through to get there. :goodvibes

Gabe turned 3 in December. Here he is at WDW seeing fireworks for the first time. He was so excited. :cloud9:

My nausea ended at 10w. Maybe yours will end soon!

With my first (a girl!) I had terrible nausea 24/7 right when all the pregnancy books said I would. I think it started around the 6th week and was gone around the 12th week. I think it started getting better the last couple of weeks of the first trimester and I realized it was gone for good the day I was at work and I was eating the pizza they ordered in for lunch without a second thought! So hang in there, it might be over very soon.

And with my second (a boy!) I barely had any morning sickness. In fact, the worst I had with him were a couple of isolated incidents in the second trimester, when my girl was switching to solids and had really bad diapers! :rotfl:

It's completely worth it. :)

Three kids, 2 miscarriages. Started when I was 23, had the last one at 43. I had nasty, non-productive nausea from my 9th week, until about mid-way through my 7th month. I would wish that it would be productive...I felt so awful. And it was that way for both my miscarriages as well....as soon as I miscarried and had the D&C, the morning sickness went away.
I lived on Hawaiian Punch for my first pregnancy...can't stand the smell of it anymore.
The last pregnancy, 16 years ago, I lived on tuna sandwiches, chips, baked potatoes, and grape ginger ale. I would feel fine for about 2 hrs and then back to misery again. I tried to eat small amounts more often than I normally would.
Try to hang in there. I know there is nothing quite like morning sickness. But, it does go away..finally.

LOL. This is so true. But even worse than the nausea stories are the labor and delivery stories. Trust me, after throwing up for 33 weeks, whenever someone told me their "labor horror story" I'd remind them that I'd thrown up for 33 weeks and nothing could ever beat that!

BTW...I didn't have a horrible labor. My water broke but becuase of the position my son was in he wouldn't descend so I had a c-section. No big deal with labor or, in all honesty, recovery! I was pushing him in a stroller up a hill 7 days after delivery. Glad I got blessed there!

I had it bad with all my pregnancies but not as bad as my cousin who was in hopsital a few times with ivs. I had it well into 16-21 weeks and all girls.

Sorry. I guess I'm getting off topic -->

Maybe? I guess I'm not sure how far one has to get before they are "off topic"... :scratchin:

Two words for any type of "morning" sickness - papaya enzyme!!!

I used it during my pregnancy, recommended it to my DD during her months of morning sickness. It is all natural, chewable with a good taste. You can get it an GNC and when they have their sales its even better. The last time I was at GNC they had a small tin with papaya enzyme in it at the check out counter. Great purse size.

You can also use it when you are not pregnant for an upset stomach or any type of nausea.

Wow, no sooner did I post that, and then have to run to bathroom because I was sick from such awful heartburn. Pregnancy is so joyous!

Heartburn is awful!! I had it all through my second pregnancy and it was the worst during labor until the nurse gave me this sour type drink of something and it instantly went away. It was like magic...one minute I was in tears from the heartburn and then I had that and was fine!
