I am almost 10 weeks pregnant and I am miserable. I am nauseus pretty much 24/7 and I am having a lot of trouble making myself eat anything.

I keep hoping it will get better but it just seems to be getting worse. Last night I laid in bed dry heaving for over an hour. I also vomit too, but only 3-5 times a week so far. It's mostly just constant, persistent nausea.

I was occasionally nauseus during my pregnancy with DS, but nothing like this.

When did your morning sickness peak? When did it let up? What helped you get through it?

Thanks for any info! :goodvibes

When I was pregant with my daughter and the twins it was the worse. My dd I was sick through most of my pregnancy. I could only eat certain things. My son it was only bad for the first month or so and occasionally through out but not much. I had crackers on hand at all times.:confused3

I had morning sickness with my daughter - not my sons - for the first few months. It did go away, but it was replaced with hearburn . For the morning sickness, the only thing that helped me was sucking on peppermint candy - it worked great for me.

My morning sickness started at week 7 (for both pregnancies) and went on right up through my 6th month. It was miserable. For the first pregnancy, I was sort of like a zombie all that time. I had a full-time job and I was miserable. Fortunately, I had not kids at that point so I could just collapse when I was home. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, relieved it. You will get lots of advice on this thread for home remedies. Try them all. But I will tell you that none of them worked for me.

For my second pregnancy, I had a new OB/GYN and when I told him about my first pregnancy, he gave me Phenergan suppositories to take with the second one. What a life saver. I took the absolute minimum amout, still had some slight nausea, but it was manageable.

Good luck to you. It is a truly miserable feeling.

I watched some show years after being pregnant and the lady on there was giving pregnancy tips. One of which was to 'sniff newspaper' when you felt nausea. A bunch of women in the audience tried it and said it worked. :confused3

Seems harmless enough to try. I'd give it a shot (let me know if it worked, too - cuz I was always intrigued)

That being said - I had Saltines and Graham Crackers on me at all times. A package in my car - my purse - my coat pocket. Everywhere.

Mine was terrible bad - both times, and the 2nd time around was just GOD! UGH! TERRIBLE! My DR ended up giving me this: http://www.healthsquare.com/newrx/com1097.htm

I couldnt keep anything down, until I got that RX.

Morning sickness stinks! I had morning sickness with all 3 of mine. The last pregnancy was the worst. It was all day long. For me, I had saltines, plain cheerios and peanuts around me at all times! Having even just a little bit of these in my stomach helped. Also, I drank flat coke. Shake it up and let the carbonation fizzle out then sip it slowly. Don't drink it ice cold either, that can upset your stomach if your drink is too cold when you're already nauseated. Ginger snaps helped too. Mine eventually let up around 20 weeks but everyone is different. Hope you feel better soon!:goodvibes

I am so sorry. It stinks to feel so bad when you want to be so happy.

I suffered from Hyperemesis Gravidarum with all 3 of my pregnancies. (In fact, that is why we don't have 4 kids) It is basically severe, constant morning sickness which lasts the entire pregnancy. The most important thing that you can do is stay hydrated. Also, talk to your OB and see if you can get something to help (Zofran usually works well), especially if this continues beyond your 12 week mark.
Another thing to consider is when you are taking your pre-natal vitamins. Those can often lead to worse nausea.
Best of luck!

Just curious, but does it seem like pregnancies when having a girl is more common than with boys?

Mom had all day sickness for all 9 months with me and none at all with any of my brothers (3 of them). Then, I had all boys and I had none at all. I just wondered if I had a girl, would I have been sick?

I am sorry to hear you're sick. I have no advice other than making sure you stay hydrated. A girl in my office was pregnant with twins (boys) and was hospitalized several times for fluids because of the severity of her morning sickness.

I'm 10 weeks now, and mine starts to fade for a few days... then BARF!! out of nowhere. This pregnancy is much milder. With DD, I had hyperemesis until about 6 months, that was absolutely miserable! I threw up from the minute I woke up until the minute I went to bed. Zofran helped a TON, but it didn't keep it away completely.

This time, I'm just eating us out of house and home to keep the nausea away. :confused3 Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Whats even worse is that I am craving lunchmeat, and I am TERRIFIED of listeria! (And it's not like we live in some one horse town that sells a pound of lunchmeat a week...lol)

Oh and I live on sour candies and limeade. That seems to help a little.

*hugs*

I does seem to be a pattern. This pregnancy is just so totally different than my pregnancy with DS (totally different symptoms, even carrying differently) I am really thinking it might be a girl. I would love to have a girl though so maybe it's just wishful thinking.

I have been taking my pre-natals in the evening after dinner. I am forcing myself to drink at least 64 ounces of water a day, but it's not been easy. Some days I only get in about 48.

I try so hard to drink all that water, but *that* is one thing that makes me nauseous!

Hey, are you having nasty post-nasal drip too? It's driving me CRAZY, and nothing helps!

Yes! I have actually had a sinus infection for over a month. It's not bad now but it is still lingering and the mucus (sorry ick!) makes the nausea so much worse.

It totally makes the nausea so much worse! I'm going crazy, I don't know what to do about it. I've tried the neti pots, humidifiers, Sudafed (it's on the safe list) and I don't know where to turn! Ack!

Oh you poor thing. Morning sickness is one of those things that unless you had it I don't think you understand how miserable it is. I feel for you. one thing I remember was to always have a little something in your stomach..it got worse for me if I got hungry. I had ms with all 3 of my pregnancies but it was the worst and lasted the longest with my oldest dd. I hope you feel better really soon.(((((hugs)))))))

Talk to your doctor about a B6 supplement. I had horrible all day sickness too, and my doctor (and my mom) suggested the B6. I only ever took like 1/2 the dose and it really did quell the pukiness.

Hang in there... You're likely getting to the end of the rotten part.

I was severely sick with all 3 of my boys. Compazine helped alot for the first 2 pregnancies, but I developed an allergy to it for the 3rd. Don't let yourself get dehydrated. If there is even a chance that you might be dehydrated if your dr will set you up to get some fluids (an i.v.) that helped me alot.
Good Luck!

I lost 20 pounds with DD. I was put on Zofram, which helped for like 1 week. It started getting better after about 14 weeks...I also found that the only vitamin i could take was Flintstones...everything else made it much worse. Also sucking on hard candy helped.

Good luck!

I can completely sympathize!! I think morning sickness is one of the things that if you have never experienced it, you can't even imagine how miserable it can be.

I had the worst morning/all day sickness with my oldest dd and nothing helped. With my ds and youngest dd I learned that sucking on orange (or sour lemon) candies all the time helped a little and eating helped. I gained soooo much weight with my youngest, because I was eating constantly the first three months (but it was totally worth a few extra pounds).

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy! I know you must be feeling awful now, but I've always heard that morning sickness is actually a very good sign that things are going well!:goodvibes
