Ladies, let's talk deodorant

I swear by Secret Clinical Strength!

I tried this last year and maybe I didn't give it a long enough trial period. Do you put it on at night or in the morning?

I have been sweating like a pig since I've gone through puberty. I have never found a deodorant that works. I can never wear white shirts because over time I have pit stains. I also have to watch the colors of my shirts to make sure that large wet circles won't be as noticeable. My wardrobe consists of a lot of navy blue and brown shirts thrown in with some strips to distract from the circles. :lmao:

Here's what I use:

This deodorant I buy in the 'organic' section at Kroger (supermarket). It's free of chemicals, and here's what herbalconsultant.com says about it:

"Crystal Roll-On Body Deodorant is made of 100% natural mineral salts, which are hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, non-sticky, non-staining, leaves no white residue and can be used by both men and women. If you have sensitive skin or allergies, or simply want a healthy alternative to mainstream, chemical-laden deodorants, this deodorant is for you! Crystal Body Deodorants are cruelty free and safe for the environment. Recommended by Cancer Treatment Centers Nationwide."

BE CAREFUL ABOUT WHAT DEODORANT YOU USE. I SWEAR THIS IS WHY BREAST CANCER IS ON THE RISE.

I hate to say this but I don't use any. I am REALLY allergic to them all, and believe me I have tried them. Just one little touch and I am a red ***** ozzing rash from top to bottom. I have even tried all the "natural" ones. I used to work in a health food shop and the sales reps used to bring me all the "new" one's to try. I started to just try them on the top of my arm because the rash wouldn't spread as much. I wash all the time. I am lucky though because like my Dad unless I have really being doing a lot I don't smell. My kids all know to let me know if I am starting to smell and I'll go wash, but that happens very rarely. It really is a pain in the butt though.

Even the 'natural' ones can have parabens and bad stuff in them. I get irritated too, and the Crystal brand REALLY does a good job.

I had that problem with pit stains too! I take a shower in the morning, then put it on before I get dressed. I have to admit, I probably but more layers on than I should, but it works! Also, in the shower, I make sure to scrub my armpits with the washrag and soap. I hope that helps some. :)

Yup. I was using one brand with green clay in it (one of the Tom's brands?) and then they changed the formulation and *bam* I was getting a rash again. The stuff that I use doesn't have the bad stuff either. I'll give your Crystal brand a try too :). I tried the rock stuff (literally a crystal rock, LOL) but I had problems with that too!

That's the exact one I use!! And it lasts for almost a year!! I have yet to find an anti-perspirant that works as well as the crystal deodorant. Anti-perspirant still allows bacteria to grow, which causes the smell. Crystal Deodorant is AWESOME!!

Ok, you guys are going to think I'm CRAZY but my friends and I all use Philips Milk of Magnesia on our armpits as a deodorant.

Yeah, you read that right!

I am allergic to the Tom's of Maine stuff and I don't want to use the aluminum based products anymore (I mean, right next to your ****s, how can that be good?), and somebody told me that Milk of Magnesia would work, and it does!

It doesn't work on sweat, though, however, I've discovered that having my armpits waxed, which rips out the hair follicle, causes my sweating and stinkiness (which is fairly prodigious!) to nearly disappear for about a month until the hair starts growing in again. I think it's because when the follicle gets yanked out there's nothing for the stink to hold onto and the sweat glands are maybe a little traumatized.

But whatever, it WORKS. Just pour a little of the MOM on your hand, slather it under your armpit, let it dry, and you're good to go all day. It also doesnt' mark up your clothes or leave a greasy residue on them. :thumbsup2

Dove cashmere. I can't use the really powerful anti-perspirants because they don't allow my skin to sweat or breath and then it itches and swells.

The only kind I can use is Lady's Speed Stick Powder Fresh. All the rest break me out. I don't know what I'll do if they ever decide to stop making it.

Suffer for beauty, baby! Or in my case, suffer to not stink :rotfl2:

I mean, yeah, it hurts, but not intolerably. Like, YOWCH. then the other pit, YOWCH, and you're done. The mani place I use does my pits for $15 bux for both.

My legs hardly hurt at all anymore when I wax them (I can't wax my own pits, though, I'm just not that flexible.)

Ladies, I know that you will probably not believe me, but the Roll On from Avon (any of them) work great. I too had the no longer works for me problem and now since I have been using the roll on from Avon I no longer have any issues. It doesnt hurt that Avon usually sells the roll on for about 99 cents a bottle. I just put it on after I get out of the shower and wait a few minutes before I get dressed for it to dry and no problems.
Avon - Cool Confidence..:goodvibes
I'll be the third vote for Avon.

eta: Maybe my confidence in my deodorant is misplaced - I seem to have killed the thread!
