What do you use to carry your drivers license, credit card, cash etc. Guys have wallets/billfolds so no problem for them. I was thinking of using a small back pack and getting a small wallet. I could also carry my camera, chapstick, etc. in the backpack. Or would you use a fanny pack? If I get a small backpack, will I be able to take it on the rides? Thanks!

I started out with a small purse with an even smaller wallet. The purse had a really long strap that I would put over my head and one should so it went across my body. I then started carrying a backpack so that I could put everything in it, camera, water, snacks, etc. You can take it on the rides but you just have to hold it. Now I've cut down to just carrying my camera bag which has a small side pocket big enough to slip in park passes, ID, and money. Then I have my water bottle on a strap. For me, a fanny pack just isn't comfortable (I've already got enough 'stuff' around my middle). But my son wears one all the time. He carries his own snacks, camera, autograph book, etc.

Not a lady but at WDW we always carried a normal size backpack with kid supplies (diapers, wipes...etc). We never had a problem taking it on rides with us. I assume it is the same at DLR.

I usually use either a fanny pack (with the pouch in front) or a small purse with a long strap that I wear across the body (like a seatbelt).

If you're thinking of a backpack I certainly wouldn't advise wearing it as a backpack. Too easy for someone to come up behind you and get into it, especially in a crowded park.

I have a nice fanny pack that can be converted into a normal shoulder strap purse. My bag was the smaller of the two made and is still plenty large to hold my camera, wallet, and even my hat (all rolled up). I have also gone the camera bag route, but when I downsized my camera, I felt that I could downsize my bag as well.

I use a fanny pack that has a zippered section in front that is just like a wallet with slots for credit cards, change, I.D., etc. I find it to be less of a hassle than a backpack. Our kids are old enough now that we don't need to carry any supplies for them except DD's inhaler (asthma) which fits nicely in the rear compartment of the fanny pack along with tissues, hand sanitizer, etc.

BTW -- I can't tell you how many times myself and DH complained of back aches/shoulder aches during previous visits in which we had to use a backpack. If you do decide to use one, make sure it's very small and only carry as little as needed. No reason to feel like a pack mule when you're supposed to be on vacation. :)

Depending on how much time I spend in the parks - when I want to go really light, I wear a little neck purse (really light), & just put in my AP, CDL, AAA, Visa, & cash. I put my camera & lipstick in my pocket. If I need to carry something, I'll just use my camera case, but it's getting to where I don't even want to carry that if I don't have to.

tycopj - I now always go with a fannypack (aka belly bag). A few years ago I would cringe at the thought of wearing one. But now that I have, its so much better than carrying a purse or lugging around a backpack. I am able to fit in all that I need....my milk (money, id, lipstick, keys) and still have room for some snacks, camera, and a few other things i can't be without. The sweetpea brings its's own fannypack too. That way I dont have to lug the sweetpea's snacks and what not. I dont think I would go back to the backpack days again.

miss mulan - I like your idea of overalls and having all the pockets, but I have a question......how do you keep all your stuff in the pockets when your use the restroom. I have nightmares from my younger days when I lost my pocket belongings to the nasty pulic restroom floor. yuck

stacerita: basically i only carry what i need....our passes, 1 credit card, my license. my overall pocket is pretty deep. then the other pocket will hold my compact camera. as for my car key, they get hooked on my little strap. most of my visits only lasts 3-5 hours so i don't need to take too much because my kids cannot last that long unless DH is with us.

I used to use my fanny pack from my camcorder and a small backpack (but the only things in that were the ponchos & extra suncreen) in case we buy something small at the parks. Bigger stuff we usually had sent back to the room at WDW.

Does DLR also do package p/u ? We will be staying at HoJo's accross the street from the park.

I'm downsizing my camcorder this year - and may purchase the Disney camera fanny pack.

Does anyone else have a travel wallet ? I picked up a small one years ago at Disney and this way I don't have to take my reg. wallet on vacation.

Yes, DL has the package service. Also, if you stay offsite, you can have your packages sent to the front gate for pick up later in the day.

I have a small wallet that I've designated as my travel wallet, but its not specifically branded as a travel wallet.

Another fanny pack gal here.

I would never carry one anywhere else... but don't think I could do a theme park without it.

Our family of four use fannypacks. My husband and I have fannypacks with a medium sized main pocket where we put our small camera, first aid supplies, snacks, and rain poncho; an organizer pocket in front for money, change, credit cards; a small zippered pocket at left hip (part of the belt) for cell phone; and another small zippered pocket at right hip for passes. Our boys (ages 10 and 7) have smallish fannypacks for their wallet, snacks, rain poncho, and clear cosmetic bag for lanyard and pins. I usually have a water bottle on a strap too.

Fannypacks are great because you don't need to take them off to get on rides. I like somewhere convenient for my passes, since we are always getting them out to put in fastpass machines. Because the cell phone is not buried in my bag, I can feel it when it vibrates....the parks are so loud, I can rarely hear it ring.

My boys fill their fannypacks with snacks each morning and eat all day. They still eat a good lunch too. Snack items include: juice boxes, beef jerky, small Pringle packs, drinkable yogurt (Danimals), trail mix, etc. Their packs get emptier as the day goes by.

We have enough room in the packs to stow our sunglasses and hats while on rides as well.

does anyone else every have back pain from carrying extra tummy weight too long? I find I have to switch to carrying it like a purse over my shoulder every couple hours to relieve my back. Can't imagine going to the parks without it though !

Thanks for all the great ideas. I went to a thrift store today and bought myself a bag, it has a long adjustable strap to wear around my chest (like the seatbelt) The strap is like a back pack strap, so it will be sturdy. The bag itself is small and flat. It has one main compartment with a small zip compartment on the outside. The main compartment will be perfect for my camera. The outside small compartment will be good for chapstick, etc. My favorite part is that there is a zipper compartment on the back side (which will always be against my side) it is the perfect size for a small wallet, just big enough to carry money, license and credit card.

I also picked up DD a fanny pack. It has the main compartment and then a small front compartment. I liked all the ideas about her carrying a few snacks, chapstick and her autograph book.

Thanks again for all the suggestions. :flower1:

I use my Minnie Mouse backpack. My small wallet goes in the bottom with water and all the other "stuff" we collect throughout the day on top of it.

We bought a fanny pack specifically designed for cameras. It's padded and waterproof. It carried our video camera, a still camera and film. My husband used that and could fit his room key in it as well, which he used to charge purchases back to our room (at WDW.. don't know if you can do that at DLR or not). I had my fannypack for kids snacks, sunglasses, room key and rain poncho (a must have in Florida).

I carry around a Hot Pink belly bag. It has 3 main compartments that I carry most stuff in. There is one zippered part in the back that I put money into. My tickets and other ID stuff goes in one of the front compartments, they are layered. like in a credit card carrier. It is not to heavy. My camera, glasses and Naprosyn fit it in wonderfully.
