I can see both sides of it, I think. I love to travel. Totally love it, although the getting there, and the getting back has turned into a HUGE hassle these days. I went to the Med & Israel in 2010, and London & Paris in 2011. Both trips were fabulous. However, the flights (and the cost of those flights

) were somewhat of an ordeal. And worrying about adapters, and currency, and prescriptions, and all sorts of things like that just adds a level of stress to the travel. But the experiences once I am there -- phenomenal. However, I just could *not* face going to Europe again this year, and even opted for the Philly/DC trip for 2013. And, honestly, as much as I loved my foreign trips, my favorite trips have still been in the US. Southwest Splendors, with the totally amazing and spectacular desert scenery, and the Grand Canyon -- not to be missed. Alaska, with Mt Denali and the Kenai Fjords... beyond description. One of my favorite places in the world is Yosemite.
So this is a long, rambly way of saying that there are pluses and minuses to both foreign and domestic travel. I think the key thing is to travel. It doesn't matter where, as long as you're expanding your horizons. And heaven knows there are a TON of horizon-expanding places right here in the US & Canada.
But I'm already looking at the Greece trip. I'm very jealous of the folks that went this year. So, traveling hardships aside, I'm still going to travel abroad while I can. I'm definitely not done with that yet.
