I have been dying for lace cookies, a lady at church last week brought them to our luncheon and they were soo yummy. Got her recipe out of the church cookbook and made them... OMGOSH they taste good but are glued to the bottom of the pan. I sprayed the pan.. didnt help a bit.

Any idea what I did wrong?

Try lining the bottom of the pan with parchment paper. Works like a charm! :thumbsup2

I have no ideas, but I will tell you my dog got into a batch last night while we were out. :sad2: Powdered sugar paw prints were the give away. :lmao: He is now known as the cookie monstaaaaaa;)

I have no idea what a lace cookie is...when I saw this thread I thought you were trying to poison someone by lacing a cookie with something bad...lol.

Just had to share that.

Most of the time when we back cookies we line the pan with parchment paper...it does the job

Cheers,
Josh

Try heating the pan again to make the cookies a little gooey. Maybe you can scrape them off with a spatula while soft & gooey?

I now use a "sil" pad - the silicone pads - they are amazing!! You can get them at Target now - I got mine at Crate and Barrel!

I use aluminum foil, shiny side up to the cookie. It makes the bottoms look like glass. :thumbsup2 I usually make Oatmeal Lace cookies but this year I made Oatmeal Scotties. The lace ones are better. ;)

When you say "lace cookies" what exactly are they?

Because I've made lace cookies before, and they're more like a toffee that you take off the pan immediately and shape using the bottom of a small bowl or glass. It hardens quickly, and then you use that as a bowl when serving coffee ice cream.

So now I'm curious, because your lace cookies seem completely different from mine.

Oatmeal Lace Cookies look like this:

They're nice and crispy and are easy to make.

OP and Bill-- would you mind sharing the recipe? Sounds like it is worth trying!

I use this one only with aluminum foil.

EASY OATMEAL LACE COOKIES

1/2 lb. softened butter (two sticks)
3 c. oatmeal
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Fold in oatmeal one cup at a time. Drop mixture by level teaspoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet (4 across and 5 down). Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until cookies are thin and golden brown.

Allow to cool slightly before carefully removing from sheet. Place cookie sheets side by side, do not stack in oven.

Makes about 100.

Thanks! Those look good and easy. Looks like I will add them to our baking list for later tonight or tomorrow. :thumbsup2

1 cup sugar

1 beaten egg

1 tsp vanilla

1 stick butter (recipe maker prefers ½ stick oleo and ½ stick butter)

½ tsp salt

1 TBSP + 1 tsp plain flour

1 cup chopped pecans

1 cup old fashioned oatmeal (not instant)

directions:

Cream butter/oleo with sugar, then add beaten egg, the everything else EXCEPT

OATS AND PECANS. Beat until creamy. Stir in oats and pecans.

Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto cookie sheet that has been lined with non-stick

foil or baker’s mate. ( I am not sure what “non-stick” foil is, but 3 recipes for

Lace Cookies say to spray the foil with Pam or grease the foil. )

Bake at 400°F for 10-12 minutes, watch carefully for the last 2-3 minutes.

DO NOT remove from pan until cool.

Cookies will spread while cooking, so do not place too close before baking.

Do Not use light margarine.

The cookies tasted delish... just stuck like crazy. I will say im not really a baker, so it was prob just something i did lol. I have had this recipe before that someone else made and they are to die for!!!

I tell you, I thought parchment paper was a crock until I tried it. It works GREAT for all types of cookies!

Now you're making me want to make lace cookies--maybe I will tomorrow, we're making sugar and snickerdoodle ones, anyway. I like them with the itty bitty chocolate chips in them.
