Labor Day weekend crowds

My trip is still over a year away, but I am trying to nail down the dates for the trip. I know all of September is value season so that, to me, is the no-brainer time to go. However, ideally, we would like to head down over Labor Day weekend and stay then, giving us an extra day for whatever. If it is generally very crowded then, though, we can just as easily go the week (or two weeks) after. Which would you recommend?

Labor Day weekend is pretty crowded, as are all holiday weekends.

If you have flexibility, and if avoiding crowds is important, I think you should go later in the month. But parks will not be open as late as they will be over the Holiday weekend.

Also the first full week of September they always close MK early on Friday & Saturday for the Nights of Joy Special Event. Since those are the nights MK normally would stay open later & have Spectromagic & Fireworks you could possibly miss out on them. For a number of years I was there during that week when they still had the Disneyana Conventions. That was the one thing that bugged me about being there then. That is the most crowded week in September.
