Labor Day thoughts?

I've found websites that say Labor Day weekend is very quiet. Can anyone who's there now, or who has traveled that weekend confirm?

I'm trying to avoid a family obligation by planning a Disney trip so it would be Thursday evening/afternoon, until Monday afternoon.

I was there one time at Labor Day. I thought it was VERY crowded.

I also thought it was very hot and HUMID. I had to take 3 showers a day.

I would never schedule another visit to WDW during that timeframe.

Only my opinion. I'm sure others will jump in here.

Labor day used to not be crowded, less than 20 min wait on most attractions. Then came free dining time, and ever since it's been just like any other holiday weekend. It's been our tradition to go to MK and enjoy the park while the rest of the world travelled back to school, we were there yesterday and ended up leaving early because of ther crowds.

It's not as crowded as most holidays, but it's very far from quiet. Weather-wise, it's probably the worst time of the year -- hot, humid, rainy, and a chance of a hurricane.

If it were me, I'd pick a different destination for family obligation avoidance

I think it depends on the weather as well. The few days leading up to labour day this year and last had some storm threats. Parks were pretty empty IMO. The weekend had crowd surges due to better weather on Saturday.

SUPER crowded. It was hard to get fp for things that usually have avail and ADRs were not to be had. I would skip it. Lots of FL res who made no advance plans.

Been here since last Wednesday...very crowded since Saturday with crowds dropping a bit today (Tuesday). It was low crowds in the past but not anymore.

I agree with others. It feels much busier this year than last year even. We feel it's still manageable, but we were surprised that today still had the amount of crowds we experienced.

Interesting responses! I spent the day at Magic Kingdom and loved how low the crowds felt. We had great ADRs and great FPs as well.

Got back last night. Friday was so empty cause of the hurricane. Saturday, most likely your typical Saturday crowd. Sunday MK was packed, but we stayed til past midnight and was able to walk on lots of rides at that time. Had an amazing time!!

Walking the streets of MK at midnight in the cool air by myself, I was thinking how when I bring my nephew, it would be awesome to put him down for a nap during the day and bring him out from 7 til midnight or 1am. You could literally ride everything in a few hours the later it gets. And no crowds or heat! The parks don't stay open that late in the winter.

I agree with this. Sunday at Epcot at 1200 nemo standby was 50 minutes! We hopped to MK which was very crowded until the rain chased people away. From 930 until midnight most lines were 10 minutes max. Not the mine train of course.

I expected magic kingdom to be light crowds today but it wasn't. I couldn't get a splash mountain fast pass for 4 people. That was a surprise compared to previous trips at this time.

We did EPCOT Monday and actually used our figment fastpass. We've never seen a line for figment when going this week. Yesterday we did MK too and the walkways were very busy. We didn't really wait too long for anything, I'm just use to more room when walking.

I've found labor day weekend to be one of the busiest times of year (and the weeks leading up to it). It really depends on what the weather is doing. If there is some storm that looks like it's going to wreck east coast havoc or make traveling into orlando a problem then disney tends to be the lowest crowds you may ever see.

Many have said the week just after labor day is nice but never experienced first hand to give my thoughts.

We're here now been here since the first. It was dead thurs and Friday. Saturday was ok at MK in the morning then after dinner got CRAZY. Didn't slow down until Tuesday. We already said if we ever do this time again, we will come after the weekend or leave before.

I was there from 8/31 till 9/4. It was the absolute least crowds I've ever seen, until the weekend hit. Saturday and Sunday were a madhouse! The first two days were beautiful though as far as low wait times are (the hurricane may have had something to do with it though, lol!)

I'm not sure where you're from, but would it be a good time for a trip to Disneyland? Even if the crowds are the same, the weather will be much better, nearby off site hotels are cheaper, and you don't need as many days to "do" the resort well. Just a thought.

Also, we waited for 20min for mine train. Got in line at 11:50pm sunday. Everything else was little to no wait.

We were there during part of the Labor Day weekend last week. Saturday was quite busy (we skipped MK and did DHS in the am and Epcot for dinner). We left Sunday afternoon, so did not even try the parks because we saw the crowd predictions. Thursday and Friday were pretty slow though, we walked onto most rides.
