Labor Day - Check Your Air Tran Flights

We lost both our direct flights on Air Tran over Labor Day weekend. We are flying from Akron Canton Airport to Orlando. Luckily, we were able to take the whole day off on Friday. So, we opted for the early direct flight. However, on the way home we now have to connect and thus are losing two hours of our vacation.

This has been extremely frustrating this year as we were originally booked on Continental but they changed their flight times both coming and going by several hours. We got that flight refunded and switched to Air Tran. Now Air Tran cancelled the evening direct flight options. I am beginning to think that we may not be able to do long weekends anymore out of NE Ohio.

Though all arlines change schedules, I've found Air Tran to consistently be the worst offender in/out of MCO. They seem to make big changes right up until the day of travel, whereas most other airlines don't tinker with their master schedule within 30 days or so unless it's for weather or equipment or airport issues.

I can only hope that when Southwest completes the takeover that there might be more schedule stability.......

You are right. I have had my times change on Air Tran many times. However, this is the first time they have just cancelled a direct flight.

The only thing I can figure is that is wasn't selling well even though it is a holiday weekend.

The time changes are usually not a big deal especially when taking a week of vacation but when just going for a long weekend, it can really limit your vacation time.
