La Nouba for a 5 year old?

When we were there earlier this month DS 5 kept requesting to see La Nouba.

Every time that portion of the WDW Resort TV loop came on he kept insisting that he wanted to see it. I have no doubt that Myself, DH and DD9 would enjoy it, but I was not sure that it would hold a 5 year olds interest for long. :confused3 He is mature for 5 and is able to sit still for a bit but, I would hate to spend the $ if most of the subject matter would not appeal to him. The part that caught his attention in the TV clip had to do with bikes or motorcycles, but I am sure that they are not the whole show.

Any input?

:thumbsup2 I say go for it. We took our 3 kids to see it 2 years ago(and we have since gone to see Cirque every time it comes to our town). There are parts with performers on bikes and just tons of action. We got to sit in the front row and the guy on the bike brought the front wheel right to the edge of the stage and practically onto my 5 year olds head. She thought it was great. I think he would be interested just watching all the action. We love Cirque.

Our daughter was six when we saw this and she loved it - sat completely amazed through the whole thing.

My DS was the most immature, unable-to-sit-still 5 yr. old known to man when he saw La Nouba.

He was awestruck! So much to look at...

PS> Now he's a wonderful, sensitive, polite pre-teen. He even paid me $5 to write that.....

Is there a longer video/dvd of it or a similiar production? Letting him see more of it might let you know whether he'd be interested through the whole show.

I say as well, most definietly go for it! Your son will likely be completely GLUED! Mine was at 3 and he's been to 2 Cirque traveling shows here since and will eb going at 6 1/2 in Dec. and now because of Cirque, he LOVES gymnastics! He loves to watch it when it's on TV as well as popping in a Cirque DVD and flipping around the room and such things. It's cute! But he definetly does wane in attention when it's on TV like everything else on there, in person, he's a statue! And there is an intermission I believe a bit over half way through. More like 2/3s I think, so break is in there. I'd lay money on it that he won't move! :bitelip:

There is a DVD of whole show available, I bought one about a year ago even after seeing the show twice.

my four year old loved it. (as did my 7 and 9 year old).

We did a late show.. 9pm, and he had no problems at all.

This same kid fell asleep during fantasmic, and wishes, but LOVED this show, and still talks about it.

I do think your 5 yr old would do just fine. DW and I have seen the show, and there are numerous acts that will hold his attention. The pre-show was very good also which he will enjoy.

We were bored a lot during La Nouba. The stuff they do is interesting, but they do it for too long. Especially that guy with the chairs...snooze. DS 12 fell asleep while the guy was flying around on his scarves...I nearly did.

I wouldn't take a 5 year old, but I'm in the minority.

If you go, let us know how it went!

Thanks for all the input - especially for the You Tube links Dan. Never would have thought to have looked there! :wave2:

I can't imagine La Nouba being boring for anybody. It's honestly spectacular.

 That's the coolest part of the whole show!!!

We've been quite a few times. Obviously, we think it's amazing. My little guy has been at 18 months and again at 3 years. He didn't make a peep either time and I don't think he ever took his eyes off the stage. It's really breathtaking.

It was cool the first few times, but after a while, I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, you're flying around on scarves. Next, please!"

I think La Nouba is fantastic for people who are more into the artistic presentation than I am. I'm more an entertainment kind of person - parades, shows and Hoop-Dee-Doo for me!

The only things I remember really liking were the trampoline and the Chinese kids with their balls.

That's what is so great about Disney, there is something for everyone! :)
