So DF and I are finally tying the knot in mid-October of this year. After much thought on where we'd like to go post-wedding, we decided on a semi-Disneymoon! We've been to Disney World many many times together, so we decided we'd travel somewhere either of us has never been before- California! This is great, because he is super pumped to hit some LA comedy clubs, and I've wanted to go to DL for as long as I can remember.

Here's where we could use some help... We're obviously going to be hitting up the guidebooks, but I'd like to get ideas from Dis-ers about what we should do while there. We're interested in activities in both LA and Anaheim (obvious 2-3 days Disney), but are not sure where to stay, what else to do. etc. I know there have to be some people out there with must-dos that fall in line with our very rough outline of a trip! Thanks :goodvibes

Note: Although we're heading to Disney for part of this trip, we're more interested in finding out other things to do in the area! Hotel recommendations, fun things in LA, whether you rent a car or use public transportation, etc.

Congrats! How many days do you plan on spending in the LA area? It's been a few years since I've been to a comedy club in LA, but I used to like the Ice House in Pasadena & the Laugh Factory in Hollywood. A couple other iconic places are the Comedy Store in Hollywood & the Hollywood Improv.

There is a ton of stuff to do in the LA area as well as up & down the coast depending on how long you'll be in town & what you want to see.

Some cool things to see just in the LA area are the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Hollywood sign, the California Science Center to see the space shuttle, Walt Disney Concert Hall, Universal City Walk & Universal Studios, the beach, Santa Monica Pier. Ronald Reagan Library, Richard Nixon Library.

Things are pretty spread out, it would probably be easiest to rent a car in LA.

UCB Theater or Groundlings for an improv show. Laugh Factory and/or Comedy Store or Largo for standup.

Stay at the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood on Sunset Blvd. (hotel in oceans 12 that Brad Pitt's character owned) or The Standard in downtown (not too close to hollywood) has the famous rooftop pool a la get him to the greek.

I don't know your demographic but some other cool places I like to go:
Mohawk Bend in Echo Park
Bigfoot Lodge in Los Feliz
Red Lion Tavern in Silverlake

You will NEED to rent a car.

when we go to the LA/DIsney area we stay aboard the Queen Mary Hotel in Long Beach. It's unique, beautiful, historical...and haunted!
