For those of you planning a DLR trip, yes La Brea is pretty good, and yes it is hard to find a decent affordable breakfast near the DLR (while avoiding crowds), but keep in mind that La Brea Bakery doesn't always open before the park opens. On our last trip we wasted time going through security (staying on Harbor Blvd) through to the bakery thinking we could get breakfast and then head into the park, but they didn't open till after the park opened and we didn't want to waste time in the bakery line. And then we had to waste time getting back in the security line. So if you are crazy about being first in line to the parks, better to check their hours before you go.
We usually bring our own breakfast so that we can eat in our hotel room before we get to the park, but for those of you that don't, you can try Mimi's (just a chain, but pretty good) or venture a little farther from Harbor Blvd where it is less crowded.
