Interesting that they only went with 6 stadiums. Suggests stadiums will host multiple matches in a day since the schedule has 8 women's matches per match day. Also interesting that they just picked 4 eastern cities instead of the California and proximity cities they originally said they'd use.

Notably San Jose they're using the earthquakes' stadium, not Levi's stadium which is hosting the world cup matches this year. They seem comitted to the Smaller soccer specific stadiums, not a converted NFL stadium.

The way it seems to work is a draw to get a time, then during that 48 hour period, the chance to purchase tickets. But I suppose they’ve anticipated that a particular 48 hour window may go beyond when tickets for some events are sold out. It doesn’t sound as if there’s a soccer specific draw. Just the ability to purchase whatever is still available for any event.

FIFA has different regulations for fields than the NCAA does. It is not uncommon to have Olympic soccer matches in regions other than the host city. In 1984, there was only men's soccer in the Olympics and LA84 still needed to use fields on the east coast. Now that there is both men's and women's soccer, there are a lot more matches and they need a lot more fields. The semi-finals and finals for both will be held at the Rose Bowl.

Regarding softball in Oklahoma City, their venue is the creme de la creme for softball. Same with canoe slalom. It is one of the few "Olympic- grade" venues in the world.

Sure, the use of spread out venues for soccer is normal. It’s been that way for several Olympics. Heck, for the last one there was surfing in Tahiti and sailing in Marseille, which wasn’t even the closest coast.

I attended one of the 1984 soccer events. They had their own opening ceremony with a small Olympic Flame. But those were in American football stadiums and not spread out in mostly soccer specific stadiums like they’re doing for 2028.

Yep! I lived in London during 2012 and took the train to Manchester for one of the games.

I'm now back in SoCal and so happy I get to live in two host regions during my lifetime. It is a pain in so many ways for locals but also the energy cannot be beat.

It all pans to crowding and logistics. College soccer fields won’t have the capacity to hold the amount of fans from each country… think countries like Italy, Brazil, etc where football (world) is as tradition steeped.

What's Next:

• March 31–April 4, 2026: You'll receive an email letting you know if you've been assigned a time slot to purchase LA28 Olympics tickets during the LA Locals Presale.

Same thing happened in my extended family. There have been so many marketing emails that several people ignored this one - probably because of the title.

In the Ticket Purchase Checklist, it says you can purchase up to 12 tickets for events + 12 soccer tickets.
