Hi All ~ I just saw Lord of the Rings. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. Anyone else like it? S

I haven;t seen it. Did you read the book?

LOL
You sound like me! I watched the first one just a few months before the 2nd one came out! I love them...even read the books too...Awesome....after you see the 2nd one you'll understand my avatar!...go Gandalf!

I've been a fan since reading the books in college. Glad you enjoyed it. The second one is great also. The Battle at Helms Deep is truly amazing.

Hey Holycow....didn't we just have this conversation a few months ago????:D ;)

I didn't even pay attention when the first movie came out. DH bought the DVD when it came out....I wouldn't watch it until I'd read ALL the books including The Hobbit. They are wonderful. Tolkien is an amazing writer. I feel like it's history instead of fiction! After 4-5 trips to the theater to see TTT, including the midnight release, DH found a copy online and it's beautiful quality. We watch them quite often. I'm reading the books again to get ready for the Return of the King!!!

(Am I obsessed?)

I absolutely adore this trilogy!!!!! I have it on DVD and have watched it about 12 times!! :)

I mostly went because DH was excited to see it and he normally hates going to the movies. I absolutely loved it! The stories are so rich and the scenery is astonishing and I love all of the characters. My personal favorite is Aragorn though. :p

I've been a Tolkein fan for about 25 years and still re-read LOTR and The Silmarillion every year and am in the process of buying the entrire History of Middle Earth series. I was VERY apprehensive about the movies before I went to see them. But was soooooo pleased with the way they came out.

For those of you who are interested, there's a wonderful website called the "Encyclopedia of Arda" which is just as it sounds. It's a VERY comprehensive guide to the "who, what, when and where" of Middle Earth and will help you while you're reading the books (particularly The Silmarillion).

Did I enjoy watching the best 2 movies ever made? Oh yeah! I'm sitting here at work listening to the soundtrack right now.
Did I enjoy reading the best trilogy ever? Oh yeah! I named my kennel in Elvish 23 years ago!
BTW, how many times can a DVD be watched before it may wear out?
(Aragorn rules! Scruffy Ranger fanciers, UNITE!)

Hi Sandra! Yep! We love the movies and the books! Seeing the movies even got DS, who is not normally a reader, to read the books! Any movie that can do that gets extra high marks in my opinion!

Sure did Sandra! Read the books decades ago, loved both movies and can hardly wait for #3!

The movies truly are a feast for the eyes. My DD is obsessed with the first movie. She watches that DVD over and over and over and over... I think it has something to do with Legalos.;)

... it was so boring to me, I fell asleep. Not my kind of film.:o

<---- another fan of teh books and he movies

as some of you may remember, i used to have a sig pic here that was in elvish. :D

I *love* LOTR! I've nearly worn out all of the dvd's in the set of 4 (and am now kicking myself for not getting the edition with the 5th dvd and nifty argonath bookends!). I got to see Two Towers 3 times at Imax, which was incredible! (Anything better than Orlando and Viggo? 13-story tall Orli and Viggo!)

I'm working my way through reading the trilogy for the first time- Tolkien is amazing!

And Julie, those Orlando pics on your sig are going to be the death of me ;)

Thanks for the link, Linda!

Actually, I was a bit bored the first time I saw it too. It wasn't until after my DD made me watch it again that I caught on to it and enjoyed it. Even if the story stunk, the scenery and special effects were stunning.

Nzjkmom~ I still have your thread on my favorites!...LOL
I don't need to much of an excuse to talk about LOTR..
