L.A. Times article on "tiny amusement parks by the sea"

As someone who visits both DLR and the Santa Monica pier often I think comparing them is weird. They are vastly different experiences.
 
Interesting but there is no comparison. Disney stands alone and DLR continues to pack them in. While I can spend all day at a Disney park I wouldn't at a small seaside park that basically offers carnival type rides.
 
Santa Monica Pier is super ghetto. Why compare the pier to DLR? Thats like comparing the La Times to NY Times being that NY Times is more enjoyable.
 

Totally different experiences. Bellemonte park is lots of fun with a decent beach. Reminds me of the boardwalk beach parks of years gone by. But I wouldn't compare it to DLR or any other large scale amusement park. I love each but go to them for vastly different reasons.
