I have the Kuru Carreras, and not to be dramatic....but I LOVE them!
For over a year I've suffered from pretty severe plantar fasciitis, and heel spurs (very painful!).
I am a florist, I work 9 hours on my feet, on a concrete floor, and would come home in tears barely able to walk.
My podiatrist made custom orthotics, prescribed anti-inflammatory meds, gave me exercised to do, showed me how to wrap my foot, etc. I bought 5 pairs of shoes searching for the ones that would help.... Saucony, Brooks, Merrells, Nike, and Easy Spirit.
My husband saw Kurus online. We read up on them, and I ordered a pair of Carreras. The sole will shape to your foot after a good week or two of wearing them. They are, hands down, the best shoe I've ever worn, and have all but taken away my pain. It took me two weeks to break them in, I wore them for about 3-4 hours a day and slowly built up to full days.
I am, admittedly, about 35 pounds over my ideal weight. These are so different from any other shoe I've worn. The insert looks very similar to my $400 custom orthotics, but it feels sooooo much better. Soft and cushiony, but supportive.
A couple hints..... Keep the laces laced up the way they come from the factory. It matters. You can tighten them in the exact spot you need the extra support. I tighten the 2nd and 3rd holes more than the others because that's where my exact spot in my arch needs the boost.
Don't wear them all day at first. Work up to it.
The back of the heel comes up higher than any other shoe I've had, a little to get used to, it kind of rubbed in the beginning, but it has gotten better.
I have nothing but good to say about them, and I pray they are in business for a long time to come.... I can't imagine wearing anything else. Valentine's Day had me working 12 hour days for 6 days in a row... I survived it with these shoes, and I didn't experience a fraction of the pain I had been having!
