Kudos to MS on point reallocation

We see point reallocation issues on the DIS fairly regularly so I thought that I would post my experience today.
I have a BW view 1 bedroom booked for Oct. 15 - 22 for myself and DSis-in-law. I booked it at 11 months. Today I wanted to book a 1 bedroom BW view HA room in April, 2014 for myself and DH. I am out of points for my Oct. 2013 use year (yes, all 1150 gone plus I even had 250 transferred in for an Aulani stay--pathetic). I can borrow from 2014 use year for the April trip but we often have to cancel our reservations when DH has medical issues and I didn't want to borrow for April since we don't like to travel in summer and a canceled April trip with borrowed points would mean having points that would need to be used in summer.
I called today to book an Aulani stay and asked about borrowing 2014 points for the October trip (which I am relatively certain I will NOT need to cancel) and freeing the 2013 points from that reservation for a potential April 2014 stay. I didn't know whether this would be a problem because some have reported that MS would not allow borrowing if current use year points were available. I also did not want to risk losing the October reservation at BW for F&W. I am happy to report that all went well. My October trip is now booked with borrowed 2014 points and I have 2013 points to use for an April trip with DH. I did not even need to book the April trip with MS right away. I just wanted everyone to know that point reallocation does happen successfully.

Glad to hear they were able to do this for you.

I have a 2bd and studio booked at Aulani in Oct using 2013 and borrowed 2014 points. We may not need the studio and if we cancel it, I will want to be sure the borrowed points are used first. Will want to have the current UY point to bank if we don't use them all.

I was prepared to do a "dummy" reservation if need be but was happy to not have to do that. I still am not sure whether the rules have been relaxed or I was just lucky to get a CM who knew how to do this. But I am counting my blessings! I admit that I was holding my breath that the Oct. BWV reservation would not be lost in the process, although the CM assured me all would be fine.

sadly no, DH & i are going oct, DD & i in april/may (not sure of the spring dates yet as am using BCV & SSR points).
we're leaving late on the 15th (DME around 5pm), what time are you arriving?

i would love to at least "just say hi" - with your consistently positive, upbeat posts, you're like the angel on one shoulder when i get cranky or poked

Our plane doesn't even land until after 5:00 PM. I have been hoping that the flight schedule might change. If it does and we can get there earlier, I will let you know and maybe we can at least cross paths in the BW lobby! If that doesn't happen we'll see about spring. I am hoping to be there in March and end of April.
