If I understand correctly every cruiser is given a Key to the World (KTTW). What I don't understand is the purpose of the KTTW. Is it your room key? I.D.? Charge Card? Also, it would make since that if it is your room key that you would need it with you to open your room door. How about children, do they need theirs all the time? Thanks for all your help!

All the above and more. You can also use the KTTW card to open your in room safe, and also need it to get off and on the ship. The KTTW card is scanned as you exit and enter the ship each time. So, if you leave the ship at any time, then yes, the children would have to have their KTTW card as well.

Yes, the KTTW card is your room key, i.d. and charge card. You will need it to get on and off the ship at the ports of call. (adults also need photo id). You will want to carry it with you as you will need it not only to get into your room but for any charges you may want to make (cash is not accepted on the ship, except for tips).

As for children, they will need their KTTW card to get on and off the ship and to get into the room. They will also have charging privileges unless you go to Guest services and get these withdrawn.

Whether they carry their own card depends on how old they are and whether they are going to have some independence from you on the ship. My kids are older so carried their own cards.

Having said that, when we were getting off for excursions or going around the ship, I seemed to be the person who carried all the cards!!

You can get lanyards to make it easier to carry the cards.

A word of warning - don't store the KTTW card next to a credit card or ship arcade card as this can cause the KTTW card to demagnitise so it doesn't work.

Hope this helps.

Your KTTW card is your room key, it has the year you were born. Your KTTW card is used to make all purchases, drinks, spa, tips etc. KTTW card is linked to your room tab and at the end of the trip your KTTW balance will be billed to the credit card on file. We will pay our bill this time every couple of days to keep an eye on how much we are spending. It adds up quickly if you are not careful. As far as kids I did see older kids with their cards. I think guest relations can put a certain dollar amount limit on the kids KTTW card but I would imagine that would be your choice.

There is no dollar amount that can be liminted on the children's cards. They either have charging privileges or none at all. A friend of our recently got back from a DCL cruise and told me they forgot to say no charging on their child's card, it's a good thing they checked their bill after the first three days, "Little Johnny" had run up quite a tab in the arcade room. "Little Johnny's" privileges were cut off after that.

I was going to have DS keep his KTTW card on a lanyard with his arcade card (he's notorious for losing things). Guess that's a bad idea if they'll demagnetize each other. :worried:

They always tell you about the possibility of demagnetizing your KTTW card, but I keep my DL (no magnetic strip), a cc and my kttw card in one of those plastic lanyards, and I've never had a problem. I do, however, make sure the magnetic strips are all going the same way, so they aren't touching each other. Kelli

Can GS program the KTTW card to more than one stateroom?

We have 3 staterooms and would like to have one universal card to open all the rooms....
