Hi.
We will be using Instacart when in HHI on Saturday for food delivery.
My choices are Kroger vs Publix, both of which I do not have in NY.
If you had to choose one, which would it be. We are doing a full foodshopping.

Thank you.

Definitely Publix

Thank you. So your response has me thinking that Kroger is not so great. I appreciate it and I order from Publix when we use Instacart at Disney and have been happy.

Publix is a tiny bit more expensive but much better quality. Aldi (if it was available) is considerably less expensive with good quality (I’m not a huge fan of their meats) and they are available for instacart. I thought I remembered one of hhi, so just throwing it out there. I figure if you’re on hhi, you’ll want to be getting local seafood and produce (so jealous thinking of it!) though and Publix will be more expensive on those normal run of the mill items like milk.

I do not have Aldi as a choice for HHI Instacart (we don't have them where I live in NY either).
I have:
Publix
Kroger
The Fresh Market

I will use Publix.

Thank you both very much!

We choose Publix when we're on vacation, because we have Kroger at home and don't have Publix, so it even feels like we're vacationing when getting our groceries.

Prices seem to be higher at Publix on many things, but they seem to be fresher, too.

I disagree with the above. We have both in Georgia and we shop at Kroger every week. We only do Publix if we need to grab something quick and are in a hurry (Publix is 1.5 miles from our house, Kroger is 4 miles). Publix is simply overpriced. They carry the same name brands as Publix. The Kroger store brand stuff is very good, we use it a lot. Their meat and produce are just as fresh as we find at Publix.

Not knocking Publix, there's nothing "wrong" with it. Stores are nice, food is fine quality. However in all of our years of experience we have found all you're paying for at Publix is the fancy window dressing...the food is the same as Kroger.

I get some of my things at each plus I use Aldi. Let me give you a review you can use rather than just say one or the other.
I think where Publix is more than marginally better than Kroger is beef, and fruit. They are also better at their prepared foods such as rotisserie chicken. For other meats and other produce, the difference imo is rather marginal. Prices are higher at Publix in general. But sale prices between the two are about the same.
Unfortunately, if you're using Instacart, you don't get to pick things out. And their pickers aren't as good as I am at it.
Store brands are very good at both in general but stay away from store brand TP and the like.

I shop at both Kroger and Publix. I much prefer Publix-better quality, and it is just a more pleasant shopping experience. When we visit Hilton Head,we always shop at the Publix right outside of the Sea Pines gate.

If you have instacart you should be able to compare prices. We have both Kroger and Publix in my area, as well as Food Lion, Wegmans, Walmart, Aldi, Lidl, Save a Lot, and probably more I'm not thinking of. Of those, Publix is by far the most expensive option, and they have a fairly limited selection - not as limited as Aldi/Lidl, but it's difficult for me to find some things that I like there. Plus their meat is really expensive, and our Publix doesn't carry larger packages (I have a big family).

I do go there occasionally, but mostly for birthday cakes (their cakes are awesome).

Kroger is the #1 grocer in America, and I shopped there exclusively when I lived in Virginia. I am a Floridian, and we Floridians love our Publix, but I would choose Kroger. The prices will be better, and the quality the same

Publix! I shop at Kroger, but when I am visiting my parents, we go to Publix. It is so much better! I wish it would come to the north side of Indianapolis!!

Definitely Publix

We have Publix and Kroger within a mile of our house. We shop at Kroger for staples solely because of their Click List pick up options. But we still have to go to Publix(or 365) for produce and fish as our Kroger's selections are sorely lacking in those departments. It is true Kroger is A LOT cheaper. And I do like their store organic brand. But man their produce and fish is just bad as is their deli. Publix also always has better staff and a cleaner store. Publix is Walt Disney World and you pay for it. Kroger is your local Six flags.

We don't have Publix here, just King Soopers which is Kroger. The times we've been in cities that do have Publix we will shop there over Safeway or other stores. However, we prefer Kroger because they are cheaper and their donuts are by far superior.

We are evenly spaced between the same two stores. We shop exclusively at Publix except when we want prepared chicken salad. We get that at Ingles over on Cherokee street. Not sure what it is about that Kroger but just don't like it. Even when it was the only grocery story up our way we went elsewhere.

When we lived in Louisiana, Kroger was our go to grocery. Now we live in Florida with no Kroger and we usually go to Publix. I don't think you could go wrong either way.

Our HHI Kroger at Shelter Cove is pretty new (2 years maybe?) and a step above the average Kroger. It is much nicer than either Publix on the island.
