It's gift card time!!!

Kroger is starting 4x fuel points again tomorrow so it's yet again time to load up on Disney gift cards. If you have the preferred Amex Blue CC (or a similar 6% cash back at grocery stores card), you essentially are getting 15-17% off the price of these gift cards.

Example:
Buy $250 gift card.

Get 1000 points, good for $1/gal off gas. Fill up your car/truck/spouses car. You can use up to 30 gallons I believe, so you're welcome to fill up two vehicles on one transaction, just don't hang up the pump.
SAVE $25-30 on gas

Get 6% cash back. SAVE $15

Now you have saved $40-45. Easy 16% off your Disney cards, which translates to everything you spend on property.

I buy about $500 every time they run these promos and stockpile them for in-park spending or to use towards future packages.

Bonus pro tip;

If you want to ensure you get your credit card cash back, ask them to make the gift cards for a weird amount like $253.54. Technically, you aren't supposed to get cash back for gift cards, but they won't notice unless you have several $250 even transactions on your statement.

Thanks for the heads up!

Couple of points to add.

-It's up to 35 gallons, at least here where I live. We've never gotten the full 35 gallons, but I know we've gone a little over 30 before when we're filling 2 cars. If you have two bigger cars to fill, it's a great deal! Just be sure you don't get more points than you can use in a two month cycle because they do expire at the end of the second month.

-You can also buy Target GCs on this deal at Kroger and then turn around and use them to buy Disney GC's at target.com and get another 5% off if you have a RedCard. You can only buy three $50 in one transaction at Target.com. So I generally buy my Target GCs in $142.50 increments. When you go to check out, enter your RedCard as payment. Then after it takes the 5% off, under the total on the right side is a box that allows you to add a Target GC to the payment. I just did this last week when they had their one day 4x points and it was working then.

Happy savings everyone!

We have been waiting for their 4x. I didn't think it started around here until the 21st though. Either way, I plan to get some Amazon cards, a craft GC for DD20, and some stores that I know we'll visit over the holidays. I love this promo!

I love shopping online through ebates with the gc to maximize the savings opportunities.

I'll probably get a couple hundred dollars in Amazon gift cards for myself. Plus gift cards for my nieces and nephews.

One thing. I'm waiting until December to buy the gift cards. My car only holds about 13 gallons. We're renting a minvan for holiday travel to and from Louisiana. I can't think of any Krogers fuel stops between here and there, and I know Louisiana doesn't have any. We'll fuel up right before we return the van, but that won't be until January 2.

If I buy the gift cards now, the points expire before I need to fill up the van.

I am adding a stop at Kroger to my list of errands to run today. I will buy $250 of Target cards and then convert them to Disney with my Blue Preferred card. Thanks for the heads up!

Just to let everyone know, if you have Kroger's smaller-format, "Aldi-esque" Ruler Foods in your town (they are opening stores in the St. Louis area, some 28 years after Kroger left), you can have the cashier scan your Kroger Plus card (or any loyalty card from the Kroger family of stores) and get the points.

And yes, Ruler sells about 40 or so different gift cards...
