Does anyone have any reviews of some of the bakery items. How does their danish compare to say the boardwalk bakery. Thinking of trying a few things for the family to share for snack time, sweet pretzel. viking cookie, cloudberry horn etc? How are their cinnamon rolls etc and is the waffle with strawberry sauce served hot etc? TIA

The school bread it to die for! Learned about it on this thread....thanks guys!!

I adore this bakery. Better than France by a long shot. Most sweet items in the park (and the USA for that matter) are too sweet. These are sweet without being too much. The cheesecake is made with a lighter cheese so it is fluffier. The crust is sweet and isn't hard or dense or soaked in butter.

The lefse is really good if you like that sort of thing. It is thin rolled potato bread spread with butter and sprinkled with sugar.

The rice cream is to die for! The rice pudding is light with a strawberry sauce to lift the sweet level. It's lovely.

I will be tasting the school bread this trip. The cloudberry horns are really nice as are the sweet pretzels with slivered almonds.

Give it a try, it's great!

Oh that school bread!!
I agree this bakery is much better than France, with more places to sit.
Don't miss it! :yay:

It really doesn't matter how any of these things are because the only thing you need to eat at any WDW bakery is the skolebrod (school bread) from Kringla. Yummmmmmmmm!

16 days and I'll be Kringlaing some school bread myself!!!

And the school bread is great for breakfast the next morning.

We love the school bread too! We put some in our big cooler and brought it home with us once :rotfl2: DH said we are the only nuts that brought home school bread!! The open face sandwiches look great as well, esp. the salmon.

Another vote for this place, it is our favorite too! We love the school bread, fresh strawberry whip cream cake, kringla (sweet pretzel almond) and of course the rice cream. A great place to stop before Illuminations!!!

I'll be eating some School Bread in a little over a week! Yum!

If the waffles aren't fresh, just ask and they'll whip some up for you in no time. You don't have to get the fruit on them either, plain is good enough for me!

Their strawberry waffle pastry is my favorite thing there. It's just fresh made waffles with strawberry jelly on it. The jelly itself isn't hot, it's slightly cool, but the waffles warm it up for you. The lefse is good too, not my cup of tea though. They also have a mixed berry cup with custard on the bottom that is fantastic! And like heffalump9 said, it's a great place to stop before Illuminations. Once I ended up being the last customer there and they gave me my stuff for free! :woohoo: You'll love it!

I have never heard of school bread either ? Do you just ask them for school bread and they know what you are talking about ?

School Bread is a round cardamom spiced bun that is baked and then filled with custard and topped with white icing and coconut. It is the same dough that is used to make the Kringla, except that the Kringla have raisins inside.

We didn't care for the cloudberry horns but that is just our opinion.

The rice cream is wonderful as is the cheesecake and the chocolate mousse cake.

I also learned about the school bread on this board. I had it last week for the first time - I walked right in and ordered it, the girl behind the counter looked at me a bit shocked and asked how I had heard of it. DH loved it! He said I turned him on to something new and will now have to have it everytime we visit Epcot :)

Rice cream is the best!
I was STUFFED from eating at 50's, but we made our way over to Epcot after dinner and I made room for some rice cream. Very, very good!
Next time I will eat rice cream FIRST. ;)

Count me among the Kringla-fan-club members. I LOVE this place -- especially the rice cream and the kringlas.

I've "tried" to get the school bread three times now, but when I get to the counter, I get possessed by the :smooth: rice cream demons :smooth: who simply force me to order the rice cream :rotfl2:
One of these days, I'll overpower them. . .

We have had Rice Cream, School Bread & Cloudberry Horn and they are all fantastic. I wish we were there so we could stop and get one today.
