Can anyone share their dining experience at Kouzzina with me?

Thanks in advance!

We ate there in August, 2009 and were very disappointed in our meal. The pastitsio was bland and tasteless, my pork chop was just OK. DH's steak was very good, but the portion was small. I'm glad we tried it though but we're not in any hurry to go back anytime soon. Of course YMMV.

We ate there in mid-September and the food was one of the best meals we had, and the service was absolutely wonderful. Get the pomegranate lemonade.

I just ate there on Halloween and it was the low point of our trip. I really wanted to like it, I was excited about it, but the overwhelming problem was oversalted food. Like REALLY WAY WAY oversalted. My grandmother has Addison's disease, which is partially a sodium deficiency and she has to add tons of salt to everything. Even she thought the food was over salted, which means that to a normal person it was pretty much inedible.

Our server kind of sucked as well. You could never find him....it wasn't even like he was busy helping other tables, he was no where in sight. :confused3

My best friend went to Kouzzina a few days ago with 5 other people and she told me they were all very disappointed with it as well.

I have a dinner reservation there in March and am seriously considering changing it based on the reviews I have read on places like Tripadvisor and Yelp (those might not be where I read the reviews--can't remember right now--but I tend to read places like those). I have read much better things about Kouzzina's breakfast.

We ate at Kouzzina's on Halloween also and it was just okay. I was getting over a nasty bout of H1N1 so I had very few working tastebuds and even I could tell that food was super salty -- and I don't like salt. I made my DH try my food and he agreed it was salty. I had the steak. DH had salmon or some type of fish and thought it was good, but then again he salts ketchup. :confused3 I've read good reviews and bad reviews...but I'm glad we tried it for ourselves. I can now brag I've eaten at an Iron Chef's inspired restaurant...so that's something. I will say the service was good. Being Halloween night there was a lot going on at the Boardwalk. Kouzzina's wasn't that busy and we were seated quickly. Our food didn't take long to get and my steak was cooked perfectly (I despise pink and it had none!). The desserts were decedant and I had a chocolate cake thingy that even though I couldn't taste it I could tell it was very rich (DH agreed when I made him taste it too!).

HTH!

We ate there a week ago and loved it. The soups were delicious and very unique. We then shared the pita with dipping sauces and the appetizer platter. We love ethnic and interesting cuisines and this one really fit the bill for us. We also ate breakfast there several times, trying nearly every breakfast entree, and enjoyed them all.

We think Kouzzina is a very nice addition to what has become, in our opinion, generally disappointing dining at many WDW restaurants.

Our only complaint was the restaurant was horrifically noisy the night we dined there (the Yankees had just won the World Series so that could have explained some of the really loud drunks). The noise level got better after 10 pm (our ADR was for 9:20 pm).

We'll go back, but we'll go late and not on a big sports night.

I ate there and did enjoy the meal overall.

I have to say the soup and hummus were a bit bland and the desserts were nothing special.
The espresso was awful.

The whole fish (Red Snapper) was excellent though. It really made the meal.
As good as the whole fish at Blue Zoo IMO.

Also I had the Brussels Sprouts and they were excellent.
I am not a huge fan of Brussels sprouts but wanted to try them for some odd reason.
So even if you do not think you like Brussels sprouts, try them.

I had dinner there in September with a friend and we both really enjoyed it. It was the best meal of our trip. The whole fish (yellowtail snapper) was excellent. I did a review of it which you can read via the link in my signature, if you want.

I don't know what's up with the salt, maybe a new chef? That was not the case for us, and I am a light salter at home, so restaurant food usually does taste overly-seasoned to me, but I didn't notice any such thing at Kouzzina.

I am hoping to try their breakfast next trip.

FWIW, I think there are some places where you see many, many bad reviews, very few good ones, and it pays to stay away. Then there are others (like Kouzzina) where you see reviews all over the place, and it is probably mostly a matter of taste. If the type of food at that particular restaurant appeals to you, then it is probably worth a try because you might be one of the ones that love it.

My DH and I ate there in Oct. We were really excited to try it. The food was good, but we also not in a hurry to go back. The portions were small. I am glad we tried it. For us, there are others places we prefer to go.

There is a recent review on the Dis unplugged podcast. You should listen to it. It was NOT favorable. The thing that stuck out in my mind was the lemon chicken soup. He said they brought out a bowl with twigs in it and then poured the soup in from a coffee pot like container. He described the taste as if lemons could sweat this was what it would taste like. Lemon BO soup does NOT sound tasty! :rotfl2:

We ate there in Sept., DH enjoyed his Seafood Stew, but neither of us liked my steak. The flank steak is brined which would explain the extreme saltiness of the meat.
I did like my potatoes & the baclava. Our server was ok, but slow.
We like Spoodles much better, it is sorely missed.
:sad2:

We had breakfast there about a month ago, party of four adults. We were all extremely disappointed with the meal. Service was very slow/checks incorrect also. Our food was sitting under the lights for quite some time before it was even delivered. We kept watching the food pile up and said, bet ours was sitting there, lol, sure enough, it was.

The other couple we were with also had dinner reservations for a later date, they cancelled because breakfast was done so poorly, they said they wouldn't pay the high prices for dinner.

Based on what I have heard directly from others at the F&W festival and read here unless you are a big fan of fish and are going to order the whole fish I would not bother.

As I stated in my post earlier the fish is amazing (and the Brussels sprouts) but the soup tasted like Progresso minestrone, the hummus was dull and the dessert did not impress.

Still if you like fish and are on the DDP I would recommend it.

We loved the lemon chicken soup. Thought it was unique and very tasty. I don't know what sweating lemons taste like, but if they're like that soup, we need to get some!

We ate there during the soft opening in Aug. and it was wonderful. It is not just for people who like fish. We have one that won't touch fish/seafood and she loved it. We had the flatbread with carmalized onions for an appetizer and our two kids had the greek salad (which they said was the best they had had). DH had the lamb and love it, DS had the whole fish and loved it. DD and myself had the lasagna and it was wonderful. The portions were very good size and none of us walked away hungry. We will definitely go back. That being said, when you ask a question for reviews you will always get good ones and bad ones. We have learned for ourselves that you had to give things a try and then decide for yourself.

Agreed. And being Greek I've had my fair share of Lemon Chicken Soup.

The Saganaki was wonderful, the Calamari, tender - we had a fisherman's stew (which was just wonderful!) and a steak (one of my son's favorites of the trip)

I will say the desserts stunk.

The food - app's and entree's were just delicious.
