Kouzzina - Love the food... but hello....service??

Let me preface -- my DH and I love the breakfast at Kouzzina. We think they offer a wonderful selection; different from much of the standard fare found around the 'world'. The stacked breakfast, Feta Scramble and pancakes are scrumptous!

We just returned today from a 4 daytrip. We had breakfast 2 days at Kouzzina. All in all - we have dined there about 5 times since Nov 2009.

While the food is wonderful, the service I am very sorry to say, is spotty and poor. This has been our observation, since last fall. Our May visits cemented this obeservation.

These past 2 visits were some of the slowest, and lacking in quality service I have experienced. No water refils unless asked, no coffee refills unless asked. The prepared food sits 'at the pass' for quite some time before the server presents to the table, leaving us with luke warm food .... an hour plus for breakfast? Really? For two adults whom order promptly?? I could understand if the restaurant was busy; it is not - and they are well staffed.

Today for example, after waiting for quite some time to be 'greeted', our hostess, whom seated us actually came over first. She brought coffee, took our order, and had to serve us our fruite plate ... at some point our waitress made it over, but my goodness, was she flightly! I called her Lucy Ricardo. We had to ask again for refills, ask for syrup for our pancakes, etc...

When it came time to pay the bill, I just gave her our TIW card. She questioned why I didn't give her the TIW + form of payment. I stated, I am going to pay cash. So, she said, "just give me the cash now, I would rather not make (2) trips." Okay, fine I thought...so, I did -- and then got up to use the restroom. While I was gone, she brought the change to my DH, and said to him --- "I gave you singles just in case"... Um really, just in case we wanted to tip her extra beyond the 18% ??

Wowza. 18% was generous enough, and believe me, she would not have gotten 18% unless TIW was being used. The audacity to ask for a tip beyond the 18% was quite brazen, especially considering lack of attention to our table, and the fact she didn't even take our order.

We love Kouzzina's food -- the back of the house is doing their job. But the front of the house needs to get their act together, or we'll be seeing another restaurant there next year.

I am not one to rant on these boards; but I just was so frustrated with our breakfast experiences - both of them this trip. I just love Kouzzina as an option, and I can only hope the work out these service issues.

Get it together Kouzzina ! You have a good thing going - don't mess it up!!!

you really had a bum waitress. too lazy to make 2 trips? wow, just wow

This is a recurring theme from this restaurant.

Hope it shapes up

Thanks for sharing your experience :)

Actually had a good server for breakfast there on Saturday.

Both servers this trip were just horrible. It just honestly is dissapointing.

Glad you had a good one though , TDC

I just had to speak up. I was willing to cut some slack last Fall, but having these same inconsistencies *both* visits this week, prompted this posting.

I was glad to know they did have a good server working there somewhere - the one from dinner in September was not so good.

Breakfast was excellent too.

That's good to know. We have one breakfast there for our upcoming trip. I hope the folks having poor experiences are reporting them to management as well, or nothing is likely to change.

ate dinner there tonight. From time we sat until we were DONE with our entrees was roughly 45 minutes. our waitress was really good and kept us up with refills. Only time it got slow was for dessert (but I think she was letting my dh browse the dessert menu)

The food was excellent and I am really going to have to find a recipe for the cinnamon chicken as my DH said it was like eating Christmas

My family ate there for dinner a few weeks ago and actually found the service to be pretty good...not outstandingly good, but good enough that we don't have any complaints about it. I think that's probably largely because we ate there right when it opened (I think our ADR was for 5:05), so it was very uncrowded, especially when we first got there. That's a shame to hear about the poor service, we really enjoyed the food there and would definitely go back, based on our experience.

We ate there for dinner a few weeks ago and thought the service was a bit slow but not horrible (although we did have to wait 45 minutes to be seated). Can't say the same for the food though; it was one of the worst meals in over 20 visits to WDW.

When I had breakfast there last fall, service was extremely slow. Service when I had dinner there was fine.

Urgh, this is one of the restaurants on the bad list for us in terms of slow service. I hate more than anything when I spend more time sitting around waiting for the check more than I do actually eating.

Well, here's hoping we get one of the good servers this winter. It's on our "date night' list. I'll be disappointed if we pay for a sitter, and end up with a rotten/slow night. We have other plans for this evening, besides dinner.

We had dinner there last Fall, and we had a wonderful waiter. Great service, good food ( once again ).

I think, for us, the issue lies mainly with breakfast. If they can improve upon their service inconsistencies, they would just do all the much better. It is really just hit or miss w/ the AM waitstaff.

We will continue to go back, as we love the food; but we'll know if we are in a rush that morning, to accept, it may be slow - and/or advise the waitress up front, we need to be prompt.

We were there in March, loved the food. We had a great server, very friendly and was at our table to check on us quite a few times. The restaurant was busy the night we were there.

We were at AP one night in December and the restaurant was slow, and so was our server. I find on a slow night that totally unacceptable.

Sorry you experienced slow service.

Must be the location because as the former Spoodles we used to experience bad service too. They must have kept the same staff, as we classified Spoodles in the same manner.

We haven't been to Kouzzina yet, as the menu isn't that suitable for us. So, haven't actually experienced the service at Kouzzina.

Tiger :)

That was our experience too. We never knew when we would luck out. Liked the restaurant but tended to avoid it because service was so iffy.

Well at least the food was good. I had poor food and service on my visit to Kouzzina. Hopefully the back of house is shaping up and the front will soon follow. :confused3 I'd really like to give it another try.
