What does everyone think?
We went last week and to quote Top Chef "it was lacking". The food was just okay-nothing to write home about. I had the lasgana and it neeed some serious salt. Sister and Dad had the whole fish and both felt that it was "too fishy". Mom had pork t-bone and said it was very good. The service was odd. The server (Dale) went over every item on the menu. It took forever to get refills of drinks and we sat with dirty, icky fish bone plates staring at us for 20 minutes.
I know that it was a soft opening but we wouldn't go back. I miss Spoodles!

We went last week. The food and drinks were wonderful (saganaki, lamb shank, fisherman's stew, baklava, galaktoboureko, pomegranate lemonade, and the Coranation sauvignon blanc) and the service was outstanding.

Our server told us the staff are having trouble knowing what to recommend because they think all the dishes are good. I heard her make recommendations to several tables around us and she recommended different things every time.

It was a close 2nd for our favorite meal of the trip (after Jiko), and miles ahead of #3 (Narcoossee's)

We went the first weekend of the soft opening in Aug. and it was wonderful. We had the flatbread appetizer w/carmalized onions and our two kids had the greek salad (both said best they have had). DH had the lamb, DS had the whole fish, and DD and I had the lasagna. The lasagna we had had alot of flavor and really tasted of the cinnamon that they cook the meat in. We had a great server (Richard). We have actually had him on our past three visits to Spoodles so we were extremely happy to have him again. All in all we loved it and would go back without hesitation.

We were there 2nd week of soft opening. I'm sorry to say after high expectations it was really lacking.

Flank steak was a disaster. Saginaki wasn't what it should be. Rest of meal was just OK.

I hope it's much better since they are now into "official" opening

Yikes. Aftr waffling back and forth with my decision to keep my reservation I decided to keep it and give Kouzzina a try. Now I'm not so sure again.:confused3

We were there during the first night of soft opening, and I liked it. The saganaki, appetizer sampler, fisherman's stew, cinnamon chicken, baklava, and sangria were all great.

It sounds like the menu is inconsistent, as we loved our meal but I've heard several bad comments about the flank steak and pastitsio.

DH and I ate breakfast there last Saturday. Yummy!
Not off the charts great. But pretty darn good. :3dglasses Definitely will return.

I was the same way. I canceled my dinner ADR for Oct 2nd, but kept my breakfast ADR for earlier in the week. I am now thinking about canceling the breakfast ADR too.:confused3

I dined there on the 8th. Overall I was dissapointed. The Fishermans stew and galaktoboureko were very good, sadly to say that ends my positive thouhts of Kouzinna. The Pastachio had way too much bechemel, to the point of almost being inedible. I love pastachio, but sorry Cat, the version served was plain nasty. Apps nothing to rave about. I disliked the flatbread. The spanikopita tasted just like any other - but was of quality. The saganaki was served on the cold side and seemed a very small portion for the price. The sangria, again nothing to rave about. And service was annoying. We all disliked the server we had and that addded to the dissapointment. I had an ADR for the 19th, but cancelled it as I had no desire to go back. I just got back from WDW late last night and have pictures I'll post when I get to them.

I really was excited about trying something new. My husband and I really like to try different foods. We are okay with spciy as long as it is flavorful. I'm just not okay with bad. I'm still not sure what to do. We are staying at the Beach Club so Kouzzina is very convenient. Well maybe I'll hold out just a little longer to see how the feedback is after the grand opening.

Oh, the joys of getting the kinks out of a new business. Sounds as though they're going through some growing pains. I'm still looking forward to going, and I hope they will have learned a little by the time I go.

Those who were disappointed, did you let the restaurant know? This is important!

I ask because I used to own a dry cleaners, and I LOVED when customers would take the time to give constructive criticism. It was the best way for me to know what was going on when I was not there. Had it not been for customer feedback, I NEVER would have been able to grow the business to where it turned a profit.

TALK, TELL, CALL THEM if you have not already done so. Being assertive will help the business grow.

PS: And make sure you ask to speak with the head manager . . . not an assistant or a general staff person.

I was so excited to get our adr on sept. 28, and now I am a little worried. I hope some were just there on an off night.

After reading 5 different threads , I canceled my dinner ADR for Sept 29th . I picked IMO a safer choice Kona ..........

Any recent reviews of Kouzinna since officially opening? We have a reservation for our stay Thanksgiving week and we need to decide between Kouzinna and 50s Prime Time Diner. We all are big fans of Greek food having grown up in the Detroit Metro area with its large Greek Town, but reading that the saganaki was cold was disheartening. We were not expecting it to be flambeed table side but cold? We are really contemplating canceling our ADR here if the greek food is truly sub-par.

Hoping some recent visitors have had a better experience.

I most certainly WOULD expect it to be flambeed table side. I'm from the South Side of Chicago, where Greek restaurants were a staple on nearly every corner. In my book. saganaki that isn't flamed right in front of me isn't real saganaki. I was excited to try this restaurant in the near future but my enthusiam is getting dampened by the lukewarm reviews.

There are a couple of factors to consider here. 1, there's a new menu that everyone is getting used to; that takes time. It's what a soft opening is for ("soft opening, grand opening - when they opened the Flamingo, one day it was closed, the next day it was open - I know, I was there"). 2, everyone is going to have different opinions.

Point being, if the menu sounds good to you, go try it. You'll never know YOUR opinion until you go. You may be disappointed, sure, but you may have a really fantastic meal.

Spoodles was one of our favorite restaurants at WDW, and we were really sorry to see it go. Was every Spoodles experience completely perfect? No. But we still loved it. Having said that, we're really looking forward to trying Kouzzina.

Also, I think setting food afire tableside at Disney is a horrible, flame-filled accident waiting to happen. It might be authentic, but it's also a really, really terrible idea. There are WAY too many children running on WAY too much adrenaline.

Just my 2 cents. :hippie:

I wasn't there since opening, but my saganaki a few days before the grand opening was definitely not cold. It had been flambéd in the open kitchen just before it was brought to our table.
