Kosher eating in Disney

Does anyone have any stories to tell. I know there are only a couple of places that you can walk into and order right off the menu. Cosmic Rays and Roarin' Forks in the Wilderness Lodge I believe is what I've heard.

Can anyone tell me what this was like and what ordering the meals in advance were like. I've heard from my Dreams agent that at the first of the year ALL restaurants resort and parks will have kosher items on menus. Anyone else heard of this?

Please share stories, as I'm trying to prepare for our trip in 2006. I also know that the Allstar Movies food court has certified kosher dairy and meat items.

Please help!

Thanks,

Denise  :teeth:

Well I haven't eaten Kosher in Disney but I have on the Disney Cruise. The breakfast choices on the cruise weren't much.

The dinner choices I had the chicken meal. It was very good. I also had the mini kids hot dogs. ( I did not get the fish since I am allergic to salmon but they didn't tell you the fish type. ) the way it worked on the cruise that the first day I got the menu and I ordered ahead.

I will be dining kosher in december, my husband wants to eat at Markkeresh and since I don't like spicy food, I plan on requesting a kosher meal. I will let you know how that goes.

Also last time I was in Epcot the restaurant at United States advertised a kosher meal. It was $10.99 I believe.

Also if you're going to have a car, I recommend taking a drive up to Amira's. You can get sandwiches to go from them. Their prices are quite reasonable.

I know there is also a restaurant closer, I haven't tried it.

Cosmic ray's corned beef dinner is not bad at all. The hot dogs are OK too. The breakfasts tend to be really bad (microwaved bagles anyone?) I also heard that you can get Kosher food at any restaraunt with 24 hour notice.

The problem is that all the Kosher food is really airline food and tases like airline food. Your best bet is to eat at the Lubavich meat place off site (expensive but decent food)

Also, there are supermarkets with good kosher food selections (not meats-unless you'll eat hebrew national). I saw frozen Empire chickens at the Publix on Irlo Bronson.

When we go, we tend to each pretty much vegitarian.

I assume the OP is talking about a true Kosher meal, one that is sealed and pre-packed.

I am not of the Jewish faith, but I did order a kosher meal at Cosmic Ray's because I didn't want to wait in 2 lines - Mom wanted a salad and I wanted a burger, the sealed Kosher burger meal is sold in the same line as the salads.

Anyway, it cost a little bit more than the standard burger. It did not take too long to prepare, although they say it can take several minutes, mine was ready right away...either they weren't really busy, or they keep a couple "warming".

The burger itself was pretty tasty. It was a plain burger on a somewhat heavy bun, almost the texture of a biscuit. Also sealed on the tray were some sort of potato patties which I thought were much better than fries.

I'll probably order it again if the same situation arises
