I placed this on the restaurants board, but have gotten about 31 views and no replies, maybe someone here on the CB can help. :(

Does anyone have any stories to tell. I know there are only a couple of places that you can walk into and order right off the menu. Cosmic Rays and Roarin' Forks in the Wilderness Lodge I believe is what I've heard.

Can anyone tell me what this was like and what ordering the meals in advance were like. I've heard from my Dreams agent that at the first of the year ALL restaurants resort and parks will have kosher items on menus. Anyone else heard of this?

Please share stories, as I'm trying to prepare for our trip in 2006. I also know that the Allstar Movies food court has certified kosher dairy and meat items.

Please help!

Thanks,

Denise  :teeth:

Well I haven't eaten Kosher in Disney but I have on the Disney Cruise. The breakfast choices on the cruise weren't much. The dinner choices I had the chicken meal. It was very good. I also had the ini kids hot dogs. ( I did not get the fish since I am allergic to salmon but they didn't tell you the fish type. ) the way it worked on the cruise that the first day I got the menu and I ordered ahead.

I will be dining kosher in december, my husband wants to eat at Markkeresh and since I don't like spicy food, I plan on requesting a kosher meal. I will let you know how that goes.

Also last time I was in Epcot the restaurant at United States advertised a kosher meal. It was $10.99 I believe.

Also if you're going to have a car, I recommend taking a drive up to Amira's. You can get sandwiches to go from them. Their prices are quite reasonable.

I know there is also a restaurant closer, I haven't tried it.

Well, I kept kosher as a kid and I realize there are different levels, but they only have one kitchen in each restaurant so none are truly kosher. As far as I know there are no restaurants that have seperate kitchens for meat and dairy, or even pots and pans that keep it seperate. Now if you are not so conservative as to worry about pots and pans being kept seperate, then can't you just buy smart, like hamburgers without cheese and fries with soda instead of milk? In other words, couldn't you go anywhere if you are willing to eat at Cosmic Rays?

My sister just brings her own food because she is the can't eat meat when dairy is being prepared at the same time type. Hope that helps.

At our (WDW) wedding they did have separate pots/pans/etc. Don't know about a separate kitchen, though I don't really see how that is relevant since I know plenty of people who keep kosher and only have 1 kitchen at home.

An ex-bf of mine was kosher and had a few meals at cosmic ray's. According to him they were just "okay" tasting. He did eat fish and salads at other restaurants though so I guess he wasn't strictly kosher.

That's what I was thinking also. Thanks. My rabbi is rabanical kosher and they only have one kitchen, but they have separate pots, pans, and utensils for their meat and dairy, AND they just had a second sink installed for their benefit. ONE kitchen, but separate cooking things. :D

Note the meals on my cruise were pre made and heated in an oven. Regarding seperate pans I guess that could be possible but how can you verify that the ingredients used by Disney are kosher.

I think it depends on how strict you are.
