I currently have PSs for brkfst 1 day and dinner later in the wk
Will I regret not going for that brkfst PS if we go to MK at opening?

I know it's talked about a lot here, but I didn't get the big deal about Kona for breakfast. It was good, I guess, but it's eggs and bacon and pancakes and such. The only thing really unique there is Tonga Toast which I found disgusting, though DH ate it okay. I'm glad i gave it a chance, but I doubt we'll ever make a special trip there for breakfast again - unless we're staying at Poly or another monorail resort and it's easy to get to, I don't see the big draw.

Just my opinion. I think you'll get a lot more done if you get to MK at opening and will feel more relaxed, esp if you're going when it's busy and hot.

Breakfast is pretty much the same wherever you go, IMHO. Eggs, pancakes, bacon...it kind of all runs together no matter where you have it, if you ask me. I don't think you would regret missing Kona for breakfast. If I had to choose between breakfast and dinner there, I would go for dinner any day. I love Kona for dinner, and think it is an often-overlooked wonderful dinner spot. The macadamia mahi mahi, teriyaki steak and sticky wings are all YUMMY!

I don't know, I think the Pineapple Macadamia Nut pancakes are pretty unique and to die for!! I swear I dream about them!!!

That's what I had ;) They were good, but I can make them at home just as easily now, which is kind of what I meant. In the end, it's pancakes with macadamia nut butter and crushed pineapples on top - I just don't think it's worth missing precious hours at the park in the cool of the day for. You know?

Now, I couldn't even begin to attempt making the Tonga Toast so for those that love that I can see making a trip each time, but I thought it was icky (blasphemy, I'm sure! Hee Hee!)

I agree about the Tonga Toast. I was sick for an entire day after eating it, very greasy!! You're right about not wasting morning park hours, I usually only have a sit down breakfast on non-park days!!

I love the breakfast at Kona.....to me, it's a not MISS. We have ours planned for our 1st morning, which happens to be our MK day. I made the ressie for 7:20am, so that way we'll be done just around time to take the Monorail to the MK.

I am also contemplating doing dinner here also. I'm curious to hear reviews on the dinners there.

My DH and I had dinner at Kona in November. We really enjoyed our meal. As a matter of fact, it one the best meals we had on that trip. We will be going back in December with our daughter.

Lunch & Dinner are Fabulous at Kona. I think it is one of the best restaurants on property. I'm not a breakfast person at all ,tho, so I can't tell you anything about breakfast there.....

PINEAPPLE MACADAMIA NUT PANCAKES?!??!!? Oh man...I wish I hadn't read this thread! LOL We're staying concierge so I haven't planned ANY breakfasts because I figure we'll have breakfast in the lounge, but I didn't realize that the Kona Cafe had PINEAPPLE MACADAMIA NUT PANCAKES!!! Woo...I may have to pick a morning and make a PS (or whatever they call them now) to have breakfast there!! :sunny:

Hi Barb! :wave2:
I've had all 3 meals at the Kona Cafe, and while I did enjoy the Tonga Toast, I would definitely choose dinner instead, if you were going to do only one meal there. Our family will be having dinner there on our trip next month, and we're having lunch there on our last day. DH and I LOVE the teriyaki steak! And DS14 LOVED the "kiddie cone" dessert they have there. In fact, going to the Kona Cafe for dinner is what got us interested in staying at the Polynesian resort on a future trip, in the first place. And now here I am...so close to finally staying there.... :cloud9:
