I really want to try Tonga toast on my next trip, I would want to visit the poly to have breakfast before going to the MK.

Now I don't have to get to MK for rope drop, but would like to be there early.

So is it better to eat it at Kona or Cooks?

There will be 5 (4 adults, 1 child) of us going in January. (bit early, but I'm starting to formulate my ADRs so I'm ready to go when my 180 day hits)

So wanted to know what would be our best option:

Go to Capt Cooks as it's cheaper - Although I am hoping that the Kona's Tonga Toast comes with a bit more stuff to warrant the higher price.

Or Kona's as it will be table service so definitely can get a seat with out a bit of a rigmarole.

Will caveat it with my son, who will be 4, has ASD, now we've have had lunch at Capt cooks before and he was fine but it wasn't very busy.

Even if it is busy I think he'll be okay if I can get him seated and Ipad distracted, while another member of my party gets the toast.

So guys and girls which option should I pick :confused3

I have not had the Tonga Toast at Kona, but have had it at Capn' Cooks. From what I understand the Kona version comes with a strawberry sauce on top and the Cooks version is just plain. When I had it, I thought it was kind of dry and ended up smothering it in syrup to be able to eat it. The other breakfast items at Cooks are good if not everyone in your party wants Tonga Toast. They have a breakfast sandwich on a croissant that my DH loves and of course, Mickey waffles.

Kona's comes with ham, bacon, or sausage and a strawberry compote, while Capt Cook's is only the Tonga Toast. I'm not sure on how crowded Capt. Cook's will be. I've been there during a weekday at mid morning and there wasn't a line to order. It will depend on the time and day.

I usually get the sampler breakfast (Big Kahuna? I forget what it's called...) and my sister gets the Tonga Toast at Kona then we split. Ironically, I prefer the Tonga Toast with regular syrup and the pancakes with the strawberry compote.

We're going in October and staying at Poly, so we'll be doing Capt. Cook's rather than Kona.

But we've been a bunch of times. I'd recommend going at least once, try it, then see what you think. The Tonga at Capt. is what? $10-12? As a PP mentioned, you only get the Tonga Toast. At Kona you get the toast, as well as a side and the strawberry sauce for $15 (plus tip)

The Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's is $8.50. There have been recent reports that they now have the strawberry compote available for purchase separately. I'll know for sure in two weeks.

The Tonga Toast at Cap'n Cooks came with 2 very small pieces of bacon and syrup.

I found the recipe online and will be making it for Mother's Day brunch. I'll serve with syrup as well because I am too lazy to make the compote.

Thanks for all the advice.

It seems from what people have said it just as good at either place.

So I will go back to the drawing board and my plans and see if a QS type meal or a sit down will fit in better.

Although after looking at the menu's again and seeing that Kona's have Mimosa it might just have the edge lol :thumbsup2

Oh, that would be so great. I love the strawberry compote, but don't always want to sit down for a long breakfast. Please let us know!
