Trying to decide between the two for dinner after an afternoon in MK and possibly EMH in the evening! What would be a better restaurant for my bf and I? I have read rave reviews about Kona but also good ones for Wave. Anything that should sway our decision one way or another? Thanks in advance!

Kona is a favorite of ours, but we ate at the Wave for the first time during our November trip and liked it, too. We just really like the offerings on the Kona menu and enjoy visiting the Poly, so we would choose Kona.

We have dined at both (Kona many, many times) and are dining at both again in a couple of weeks. If I had to choose I would absolutely go with Kona.

I really like both but thing The Wave is the better of the two for dinner. For lunch I would go with Kona.

Just my opinion, but the fare at The Wave is just a little fancier than Kona. Also, if anyone likes lamb, The Wave has the best lamb shank I have ever had in the World.:thumbsup2

You can't go wrong with either. Pick the one that seems most suited to you. Check the menus, look at pictures of the decor, etc. Either one would be a nice dinner. The Wave is more modern eclectic, Kona is obviously polynesian and not quite as "fancy" in the same way as the Wave.

I view the Wave as more "night on the town" and Kona as more "night at the beach."

KONA..we ate at the Wave recently and had an awful..awful experience!!!!! Service was awful..food not to good either!!!

DH and I tried The Wave 9/09 and thought it was the highlight of the trip! Had a great waitress who gave us free champagne because we were celebrating our anniversary. DH had the lamb and it was to die for. I had the chicken pot pie and thought it was good. As someone mentioned the food is more ecclectic than normal. Most of the food is organic but I didn't notice a difference.
That being said we have only been to Kona for breakfast (Tonga Toast!).

We have been to both! Check out the menus on allears. Kona is more casual and open. The Wave is a little more personal. We enjoy them both! :woohoo:

Just my opinion....Kona. This is a restaurant we do every trip. Love the bread and butter, entrees and the desserts are yummy.

:rotfl:

Wave is lovely (nice and quiet for lunch) the portions are also modest.

Kona has been our worst experience several times.
However, we do enjoy the sushi bar at Kona.
It is first come first serve for seating...no ADR needed.
You can order from the kona menu there but I find that the Kona food is always cold and tastes like it's been under a heatlamp.
We just get the sushi and the welcome bread (you have to request the bread when you sit at the sushi bar...it's yummy stuff).

hard decision on these 2! which are 2 of my favorites. have been to both many times. like many, i love going to see the poly and i love the kona food! i wished i had some of that macadamia nut bread right now!! i love the scallops and shrimp @ kona and the steak @ the wave. both are great!

We used to LOVE Kona. On our trip in 2005 it was OUTSTANDING. DH and I agreed it was a better experience than some of the signature dinners we had. We went back in 2006 for my birthday dinner. In 2007 we went back again, and it was still pretty good. 2008, starting to slide a little, but still OK. 2009, quality had really gone downhill as far as the entrees so we aren't going back this year.

It is hard to say how we would feel about Kona if we were going there for the first time.

It really will be our first time at The Wave next month, so we are hoping it is good.

Been to both and both are really good . You can't go wrong. If I had to pick one I go with the Wave cause we do a Kona Breakfast.
