We love them both, but in terms of fun you'd probably be better going with 'Ohana. Kona has more of a cafe feel where 'Ohana has more of a family style. I think the edge goes to Kona for food (by a small margin).

Hi there!
IMHO, I would pick OHANA for food and fun. We ate there last year and it was a huge favorite of our family. It is not quiet by any means...Lots going on and we REALLY loved the food. I have eated at Kona a bunch of times and I LOVE it there for breakfast or for a quiet dinner. The food is excellent. You mentioned "fun" in your post, so for that I would go to Ohana for a memorable, enjoyable birthday for your wife! :goodvibes

I'd say Ohana's. The food is quite good and the "fun factor" will be much higher than at Kona's.

That being said...do NOT miss the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe for breakfast one morning. Yum Oh!

With the kids, I would go with 'Ohana, their food is good.

Kona has great food :thumbsup2 but no games and fun for the kids.

Is Ohana a buffet and Kona a la carte??

O'hana's is served family style, meaning the server will bring out plates of appitizers for the whole table (you'll have a table for your whole party). Then, they come around with skewers of meat from the grill and give some to each person.

It really is fun, and probably the best choice of the two for a group celebration.

We loved both on our trip this month, but I'd also agree 'Ohana is better for a large group. The food there is really good, there are kids' activities most evenings, and it's very geared to large groups. There were two wedding parties on our visit and several other big tables. You'll have a blast!

The food is served family style, but it's all you can eat--more food brought to your table if you ask.
