Hi! I have 8pm reservations for Ohana's in December. I've been reading really good things about Kona and I was considering changing my reservation to Kona for dinner. Can anyone tell me what Kona is like and how it is for kids? I realize that Ohana is popular with kids so that's why we chose it. Is Kona appropriate for kids at night? Also, is it just one credit or two on the DDP?

THANKS!
Lesley

We love Kona! They have a great dinner menu and there're always a lot of kids there. Yours would be just fine. It's 1TS on the dining plan.

It's upstairs at the Polynesian .. right by where the monorail comes in. In fact, you can see the monorail from inside the restaurant. Kids love watching it.

They have amazing desserts! After you finish your entree, your server escourts you up to the counter where all the desserts are displayed and guess what? No one can resist! :goodvibes

We also love the kona. I am not sure how old your kids are, however when were there this past August we say kids of all ages there. My DS 14 wants to go back next year. The coconut chicked is delicious. My son order the steak because that is usually his favorite meal, however he ate most of my chicken and even the salad that came with it and he's not really a salad eater. Yes the deserts are amazing.

I give two big thumbs up to Kona! Desserts are fabulous!

We've never been to 'Ohana and are going to give it a try in couple weeks--hope it's good as we had choose between it and Kona (wanted to try something new so 'Ohana it is).

We went to Kona for dinner a couple of weeks ago and thought it was GREAT!! We will definitely be going there again, hopefully sooner than later..... :thumbsup2 Definitely give it a shot

Kona is definitely appropriate for kids (although they don't have activies and entertainment going on like they do at Ohana). I love Kona for dinner. The food is really good (I don't think I've never had a bad meal there in the four years I've been going there). It's open and area because there are no walls around it--just a fence type thing. I love getting a table along the rail so I can people watch while I eat.

I love the steak teriyaki on the dinner menu, and the Sticky Wings are an absolute must for me every time I go there. At lunch time, I like the pulled pork sandwich and the beef teriyaki salad.

Ohana is a lot of fun, and the food is very good (I could make a meal out of the sides). I don't think you'd be disappointed at either of them. I guess it just depends on the atmosphere you want while you dine.

We just returned from a stay at the Poly and had the pleasure to dine in both Kona Cafe and 'Ohanas. Kona Cafe is my favorite place to eat while in WDW. I had the most delicious steak and the macadamia tart was to die for. My husbans's Mahi-Mahi was fantastic as well. A few nights later we ate at 'Ohana's. Our meal had its ups and downs. The steak and pork were so hard that our knife could not cut into them, but the rest of the meal was yummy. I really do think 'Ohana's is more of a hit or miss place, all due to how tender the meats are that night. My DH and I still preferred Kona.
