Being the coffee connissieur that he is, DH wants to eat breakfast at Kona one morning(this would be just us, no kids for some adult time). I know everyone raves abut the Tonga Toast, and if this was your favorite, that's fine....BUT...I'm not sure I want something that rich. What else have you eaten and why did you like it???

TIA!!

I like the shrimp and cheddar omlette or the blueberry pancakes.

We were just there this past weekend. New menu, our favorite item is mia.

I had the ham and cheese omelette, it was fine.

The other couple we were with had the tonga toast..they said, yep, you were right, that is way to much and way too sweet..lol. If you do decide to try it, get one for the table and share.

there are other things on the menu besides Tonga Toast and pressed pot Kona coffee????

Who knew? :rotfl2:

We are SO looking forward to the pressed pot Kona coffee. DH bought himself a French press and makes coffee in it all the time. I don't like strong coffee, but this stuff is silk....like Guinness only in a coffee. Unless we happen to be in the mood for something that sweet, I think we'd steer clear of the Tonga Toast....stuff that sweet has never appealed to me. Thanks, guys for your help so far....are the servings they give you big? Is it possible to share an omelet?? Though we're getting the DP, I think we'd pay for Kona OOP....

I stayed at the Poly twice last year (12 days total) and had breakfast there about 9 times (very convenient!). I probably had an omelet each time - they were always very good. My friend got the Tonga Toast once - way too sweet for either of us.

I favorite breakfast at Kona is the Pineapple Macadamia Nut Pancakes with Macadamia Nut Butter and Kona Coffee.

Of course I am a sweet fanatic so I went TONGA TOAST, but they have specials too that are not on the menu -- normally omlettes. That is what my DH had -- it was a veggie omlette and he loved it. He did not like the potatoes which were not really hash browns but were steak fries -- we shared a dish of fruit which was nice fresh fruits, enough for two!

Next time I am going to try those pancakes!!! :teeth:

Yummy! :cool1:
I wish I had some now. I think they came with a side of bacon? Don't remember - I was too focused on the pancakes.
DBF had some kind of platter with sausage, eggs, potatoes and pancakes. Way too much food but it was good!

Tonga Toast, it is a family tradition to end each vacation with a Tonga Toast run and some pressed coffee...simply wonderful :thumbsup2

DH and I shared a Tonga toast plate 2 weeks ago, and the kids shared one too. Half is plenty. Don't cut it diagonally though, didn't work out right with the banana's when we tried that! It comes with sausage or bacon, your choice.
We have shared the eggs benedict too, very good!

The Fruit Plate. It is a huge plate of fruit with Banana Bread. and I also enjoy Tonga Toast, No syrup & Grilled

Kae

We've had the macadamia pineapple pancakes and the tonga toast. Both were outstanding. :sunny:

That Shrimp and Cheese omlette is good--but I usually end up with the "Big Kahuna"--which is a little bit of everything!!!

I wanted something light when we had breakfast at Kona, so I ordered the fruit plate. It was a huge, beautiful plate of fruit served with banana bread, and I really enjoyed it.

Several friends ordered the pineapple-macadamia pancakes, and they said they were delicious. The servings were huge though, and no one was able to finish them, so you might want to share.

No doubt about it: Tonga Toast and a French press of Kona Coffee!!

:rotfl2: I'm with you!

Although, a friend had the macdamia nut pancakes the last time we went, and they were fantastic as well.

Thanks all....everything sounds soooo good! DH thinks he might want to share a Tonga Toast, but the Macadamia Nut/pineapple pancakes sound so yummy. I'm just not sure if I want something as rich as Tonga Toast. Is it made like regular french toast, only stuffed and rolled?? in cinnamon sugar? i htought I read somewhere that it was battered and deep fried...if thats the case then there is NO WAY I can eat that. Bring out the defibrillator!

...the pressed pot is a MUST for us...and the fruit plate looks yummy too! :thumbsup2

I finally got to try the Tonga Toast on our last visit. It was OK, but not something I would order again. It is very sweet and filling.

They did have some very nice omelettes on the menu. My DW got one and liked it. I agree with SnwflksCts DH, the homefries were more like baked diced frozen french fries with little flavor and not worth the carbs or calories. :(

We did not opt for the pressed pot of Kona since I was the only one drinking coffee, but their regular coffee (and much less expensive) is a Kona blend and one of the best I have had at WDW. :)
