Just a quick question...

We went to Kona a few years ago & lvoed it. But now that we are going back, we are wondering...did we love it because of the food or was it the fact that it was our first meal on free dining, our first night at WDW,etc...? Is the food at Kona as good as I remember? Does that make sense? I just am wanting to make sure it wasnt the memory that I remember being so good. I think the food was good, but I honestly dont remember. Make sense?

Just give me your opinion of the food. I already know the service & atmosphere was great.

TIA,
Cathy

I really like the Kona. So does my family.
I always try to eat here and I am paying out of pocket.

I am not a fan of the DDP or having to book 3 months in advance where I will be on specific day. You can usually get something at Kona day of as long as you do not mind eating at 8PM. YMMV.

I've never been disappointed with a meal at Kona, but every location does have bad days.
Kona seems to have less bad days than others.

I have had seen some bad reviews, but I have never had a bad meal here and I am very critical of Disney Dinning overall.

The Tuna Oscar has always been good and I really like the Chocolate Banana Crème Brulee.

Went there in August for my birthday breakfast and it was AWESOME...
I hear good things about the dinner and the menu sounds tasty. Id say goo....

:thumbsup2

Kona is always a must do restaurant. Volcano roll from the sushi bar, Tuna Oscar entree, and chocolate fondue for dessert, it's just a great meal! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I think the food is great, we went in August for our first meal, and it was during FD also....sooo, maybe I'm thinking the same as you, but it tasted pretty darn good. Probably the best tasting meal of the week. DH thought the environment was "chaotic" (he said this last night), but I questioned him if he just thought that because inside the Poly was madness with people spilling out of 'Ohana and lined up for Kona, or was it the restaurant itself and the open concept of it. We sat in a corner booth and I thought it was lovely. Of course I was focused on feeding DD and may not have been as observant as he.

I love Kona but usually eat lunch there because the item I like, the Asian Noodle Bowl, is not on the dinner menu. If I were to do a monorail resort dinner it would be The Wave but I find that Kona is one of the best lunch values on property (relative to other Disney restaurants of course) because you get very large portions.

The Kona sticky wings were maybe the best appetizer on our whole last trip. The place is good, we're looking forward to going back.

A Kona breakfast at Disney helps make my trip to the World wonderful. :yay:

LOVE Kona Cafe! LOVE IT!

I always go there for dinner, every trip. I'd go more than once a trip if I could get away with it.

Yes, the FOOD is that good! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

We love Kona and make sure to visit at least once every trip. We usually go for breakfast on one of our MK days and for lunch or dinner on another MK day. I dream about the Macadamia Nut pancakes all year! I also love the shrimp and scallop entree at dinner.

Add us to the list of Kona lovers - both for breakfast and dinner (it's still a hidden gem in terms of Disney restuarants, and that suits me just fine). :thumbsup2

I hear a lot about Kona for breakfast and dinner. Unfortunately, we were only able to squeeze it in for lunch. How is lunch at Kona?

Our family eats to Kona for breakfast and dinner every trip. My DH and DS love the sticky wings. The teriyaki steak is really good too. It is one of our must-do restaurants every trip.

We love Kona! I usually get their Pan Asian noodles with chicken and DH gets the Ter. steak. I could honestly go and fill up on that bread and macadamia nut butter - yummy!!!

We love Kona too! The bread, sticky wings and teriyaki beef are my favorites! We were there last in June and go on most of our trips. The food has always been great.

We always enjoy Kona! I would sooner have dinner there than go to the luau. It's worth a trip to poly to eat there, then walk along the beach for a while, sit in a hammock, etc
