I have Dinner ADRs at both Kona Cafe and Wolfgang Puck and need your help deciding which one you would recommend. My husband and I are going for dinner with our 2 kids 5 and 7. We want good food and nice environment. We have a number of ADRs already booked so please don't suggest new places just help us determine between these two. Thanks.

My family ate at WPCafe following a Cirque show last trip ( a few years back) and we weren't impressed. It was very loud and crowded, we were seated immediately with our ADR. We might be in the minority but we weren't impressed with the food, I remember having a quesadilla not sure what everyone else had. Kids thought the food was "weird", one had pizza I remember. Probably it was prepared more "gourmet" than they expected. Kids were 10 and 13 at the time. We wouldn't go out of our way to go back. We are trying Kona for dinner next month.

I would vote kona....it is my new fav place to go. it is quick and very very good. Kids got to choose from mickey pasta instead of same old nuggets nuggets nuggets. Service was great and the food was the best I have had a wdw.

WGP we tried it and won't go back. The desserts were great but we didn't care for the food. It was very very slow even for wdw standards my kids were ready to leave (as was I ) way before our food even arrived. It wasn't busy either so I don't know why it was so slow. It was very noisy as well.

just my 2 cents

We ate at both on our last trip with kids who were almost 2 and 7.

By far we enjoyed Kona better. I am sure part of it was the service-at WP we had a young "hip" waiter who acted like he was doing us a favor by waiting on us. The food was good-but not fantastic and it was loud. We were kind of full so we asked for desserts to go so he gave my son 1 cookie in a bag rather than the kid's sundae. Not a big deal but we thought it was kind of funny.

At Kona we really enjoyed the food-and it was a much nicer atmosphere. Both of my kids like less "fast food" type options so they ate a lot of what we had. The desserts were amazing-even the touches like the powdererd chocolate on the plate were cute.

In neithr place was the food bad by any means, but we just really enjoyed Kona and thought WP was just ok.

Would you be making the trip to DTD just to have dinner at Wolfgang Puck's? To me, it isn't really a "destination" restaurant. Last time I went there, the service was chaotic and my food was just OK, with the sushi being particularly disappointing (on the back end of fresh). For the record, I haven't eaten in the more upscale room upstairs; my comments relate to the casual cafe.

I would go with Kona. It's one of the best non-Signature restaurants. I am looking forward to dining there next week. Plus, the Poly is such a beautiful setting (although the cafe itself doesn't have much atmosphere).

And Kona Cafe is by far the better restaurant.

We also ate there for lunch and breakfast, and found they served consistently great food.

WP was ok, but not enough to make a trip out to DTD for it.

We've eaten at both several times and by far enjoy Konas more. We've gotten consistently good food and excellent service there.

WGP is OK if you're already in DTD and looking for a place to eat, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Like others, our service has always been very spotty to almost rude there. I made the mistake of dining solo there once and the waiter let me know that he felt he was wasting his time with a solo diner as he had 'bigger tables', that he'd 'make more tips off of'. He also made a point of telling me that Disney only alots them so much money on the DDP and that waiters really got took on it. This was when the tips were still included on the DDP. He more or less insisted that he deserved a certain amount for a tip and also mentioned that if two people were dining at my table instead of one, that he'd be 'getting double the tip'. I just wanted to get the heck out of there.:rotfl: Once when my husband and I dined there, our waiter kept complaining to us about another one of his tables that had three kids and how obnoxious he found kids. He was also complaining about how Europeans don't tip or tip very little. I also found a bone in my fish there, but of course that could happen anywhere. The food is OK at WGP, but we've only gotten a decent waiter once in the four times we've eaten there.

have not tried wgp but we have found kona to be really reliable for service and food. we have eaten a late lunch there several times and loved it . we will be trying breakfast as well this next time. at lunch we liked the wings, the chicken, bacon , onion ring sandwich, the mahi mahi which i think is prepared differently now, the crab cakes, the scallops, and the kilauea torte! it's nice to get away from the parks for a quick respite and the thing is that you can return easily via monorail. good luck with your decision!:)
